  • G100a

I am thinking to buy a polisher and I have questions:

    1. I know I should use it for polishing (DC Polish) and waxing (NXT and #21). How about DC paint cleaner?

    2. In Meguiars web site, this G100A costs $226. I read that the G100A is made by PC and similar products from PC sell for almost half the price. Does Meguiar's D100A offers any real advantages over the native PC models?

    Re: G100a

The G-100 has a lifetime warranty and has Meguiar's name on it. The others have a 1 year warranty.
Other than that they are the same animal. I have the G-100 and a PC 7336.

      1. You can use it with the DC paint cleaner. DC products are meant to be used by hand. If you get a DA then you can start using professional line products which are much much better.

      2. G100 and PC 7424 are completely identical except for the name plates. With the G100 you get a lifetime warranty, thats why you see the huge markup in the price. When I bought my PC, I didnt know about the G100. My next purchase will be a G100 no doubt just because of the warranty.

Here is a similar thread that was started recently: new to detailing.. PC question...

If you are worried about the price of the G100A, shop around you should be able to find it a little cheaper.

Does Meguiar's sometimes offer discount on the G100A?

In the other thread, it talked about if buying the PC-7424, I should get Meguiars DA Velcro Buffing System. I could not find it the the Meguiar's website, I did see Dual-Action Polisher Backing Plates (for 6.5" pad or 8" pad).

Looks like the advantage of buying from Meguiar's is the lifetime warranty.

How reliable is G100a? If it breaks down all the time, it's still no good even with the lifetime warranty.

the G100A/PC is a very well built tool, and should last for a very long time. if it ever fails (which rarely ever happens, but also depends on how often & hard you use it) meguiars will replace it for free (if you buy it directly from them)...

                    Re: G100a

I read that if buying the PC-7424 (or 7336), I should get Meguiars DA Velcro Buffing System. I could not find this product in Meguiar's website.

So, I read some more and I think these are the products I need:

Backing Plate: W64DA-5 Dual-Action Polisher Backing Plates (for 6.5" pad)
Polishing pad: W8006 Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pads (6.5").
Waxing pad: W9006 Softbuff Finishing Pads (6.5")

Is this list correct? I think I will only use the PC to apply polish and wax. As for the cleaner, not sure if I need the PC to get rid of the old wax.

Those are the products.... but, I would give Meguiars customer service a call first. The 'Meguiars DA Velcro Buffing System' might still be available (just not on Meguiars.com for some reason). The package use to contain 2 polishing pads, 1 finishing pad and a backing plate for around $35.00

Here is a couple additional post, to give you some good information. Maybe you don't need the suggested products in the post now but it will give you an idea.

                        Re: G100a

I think I made a mistake. I thought I was supposed to apply the products using the even-coat applicators and used the PC to remove them.

After some more reading, it seems that I should use the PC to apply the products and remove them by hand. Is this right?

Yes use the PC to apply and you can either remove by hand or by the PC again with mf bonnets over a cutting pad.

Is this true? I thought the G100 had a lifetime warranty regardless of whether purchased directly from Meguiar's or another shop. Does that mean that since I bought my G100 from ADS that I don't have a lifetime warranty? I'm confused...
