G100a and bonnets

I want to jump on a G100 from auto detailing solutions for $149 which sounds cheap. Its listed as G100 so is this an older model than the G100a?

Also, can I use the microfiber bonnets to polish or should one stick with the foam pads?

Well, I'm pretty sure ADS stocks the newest PC, so I would say it's the G100A.

You can get PC's from members here for about $85 plus shipping. But, they don't come with the lifetime warranty like the G100.

The polisher uses pads to apply waxes, polishes and cleaners. To remove the product, you can use a bonnet over a cutting or polishing pad. Supposedly, the pad that comes with the PC (the white one in the box) works pretty well with a bonnet, though it is not suggested that you use it to apply products. Traditionally, you would use a buffer and a bonnet to apply products. Dual action polishers utilize pads to apply products more efficiently.

If you do order a PC, be sure to stock up on the Soft Buff pads from ADS. ADS offers a mix and match deal. I would suggest getting four polishing and two finishing pads.

the only difference between the G100A and the G100 is the G100A comes with W64DA backing plate and one W8006 soft foam polishing pad, while the G100 is just the polisher itself (both are identically the same) with no backing plate or foam pad, iirc...

Waxing The Car = W8006 (Tan)

Removing The Wax = W7006 with a X4003 bonnet over it

As for the pads they don't change with color of the vehicle.

Purple Pad #7006 - This is only used to remove wax with a bonnet as I described.
Yellow Pad #W8006 - For paint cleaners and cleaner/polishes #80 #83 #9
Tan Pad #W9006 - For Polishes, and waxes. #3 #7 GC Wax NXT Wax

I always do one final wipe with a MF. slow arm speed.

As for the pads they don't change with color of the vehicle.

They will if you dont have a clear coat paint.

i meant that you don't use different pads per different colour vechile.

yes the pads will change colour, i know that, i've seen and done that first hand experience, but they are still useable. just a quick wash and you're good to go.

no paint transfer from car to car.

Its recommended to use the Finishing Pad when applying a pure wax or a pure polish. Here is a very helpful chart: Product, Pad and Speed settings for the Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher

Thanks. Cost just keeps adding up with 4 yellow pads and now I gotta get some finishing pads =)

Anyways, my plan was for wash, clay, scratchx, 80 and 26 or 21 for a black Benz. I was use to just using terry cloth bonnets for polishing, waxing and buffing on my old orbital.

Its probably just as cheap to order a case of six from ADS... you can mix and match as you like.

1 -7006

is a good starting mix.

I AGREE!!!

You only need 1 7006 because YOU NEVER USE THIS ON YOUR FINISH. only with a Bonnet covering it.

as for applying wax, for NXT i use 9006.

and personally, i would get a mix of the pads so that if you ever need a 9006, at least you have it on hand and aren't searching for where to ge the pad asap. know what i mean.

like Murr said, ADS has a sick deal on 6 pads. that's where i grabbed all mine from.

If by "orbital" you mean one of those 10" buffers you find at Pep Boys or Walmart for $29.95, forget it. The results you get by using the correct tools are worth the extra cash. Besides, there's nothing like wasting your time detailing your car with the wrong tools only to get inferior results.

There's nothing as good as black paint to show off inferior results!
