Pad Cleaning

Hey everyone!

I have read a bunch of thread here on MeguiarsOnline about pad cleaning and have found them to be very informative. I have been spending some time looking around the internet at different car care websites and I came across a few intriguing products on autogeek. They are pad cleaning solutions and a pad conditioning brush. Here are links for the various products.

As far as I know, Meguiars does not offer ant products that perform similar tasks, if I am wrong, please correct me! I was wondering if anyone has used these products before and to what result? Also, do you think these products would be safe for my Meguiars pads?
Lastly, I have been looking into getting 2 new buckets for washing and was wondering if Meguiars makes a bucket? I want to stay true to the products that I love, and that would just be another way to do this. Thanks in advance for you input and advice!

The reason Meguiar's doesn't offer a product for washing foam pads is because Meguiar's doesn't recommend washing your pads.

Is the preferred method of cleaning your pads by hand with a microfiber towel? What about risning them out with warm water or would damage the velco backing?

you can risk damging the velcro by washing them. but alot of guys, myself included have not had a problem.

my process.

after i've completed the job. i take a MEGS TERRY TOWEL, hold it up to the pad with my hand, turn the machine on to about 3-5 and try to get as much as the product onto the TT. do that a few times. then i run it with my finger nail barely touching or SOFT BRISTLE tooth brush to pick up any extra big chucks.

then i spray the pad with APC 10:1 and let it soak for 30 minutes in warm water. then i just take it out, let it dry.

done. pads get super clean for me.

I also wash my pads, little bit of different process though. I use a fine bristeled brush that is made specifically for cleaning pads that I got off of autogeek.com. I run it over the pads while the DA is on and it gets a lot of stuff out (also great to do in the middle of a detail to get caked on stuff out of the pad instead of having to go to a new one) I then soak them in some stuff called Snappy Clean for about a half an hour, rinse 'em out and let them air dry.

I like this idea, I'll have to try it out. Probably cheaper than Snappy Clean.

By the way, I know Meguiars doesn't recommend cleaning the pads, because it will possibly cause the backing to come off. What do they recommend then, are we supposed to just keep on buying new ones. Just curious as to what their recommended process is.

They allwas get hard and stiff after using them
