  • 7424 OEM pad & Remove touch up

Hello, I am a long time meguiars user, short time lurker and a user first time poster. I picked up a PC 7424 and ordered the following from ADS -

    3x W8006

    1x W9006

    1x W64dA

    12x Microfiber Towels

    1x #80

    1x #83

1x Meguiar's Body Solvent (one tar spot on sunroof)

    Things I have -

    1x NXT Car Wash

    1x NXT Wax Paste

    1x PlastX

    1x StratchX

    1x Clay Kit

    2x Quik Detailer

1x Gold Class Rich Leather Spray

    1x Hot Shine Tire Coating

1x Quik Interior Detailer Interior Wipes

    1x Exterior Trim Detailer

1x Mothers California Gold Paint Chip Repair (Sorry megs you don't make it)

    3x Microfiber Towels

I still need to get some NXT glass cleaner.

    My questions are-

1- Is it ok to use PlastX with the pad that comes with the 7424 on my headlights? If so what speed?

2- The last owner filled in 5 chips on the hood with the wrong color touchup paint and didn't do a very good job. They didn't clear over them either. If the mothers stuff with "Langka" doesn't get it off, is paint thinner safe?

3- I Have read most of the good posts on how to use the g100. The hood is the only part of the car with touchup paint So that will be my first project. Can you help me fill in the blanks for langka/thinner touchup? How's this look-

    1- Remove old touchup "Langka/thinner"
    2- Prep
    3- Touch up
    4- Wait 24hours
5- Smooth with Langka, Then clear coat
6- Wait 2 weeks (they want me to wait 2 weeks before waxing)
    7- #83
    8- #80
    9- Wax

4- Last question I have some fine scratches in the pillar next to the hatch ( my g/f noticed them last week under a fluorescent light in a parking garage . Which pad & speed do I use with the scratchX and do I use it before or after #83?

    Thank You!

Yes, try the 5.0 speed setting.

Should be, test first and proceed according to your results.

Be careful when using a cleaner/polish over the touch-up paint, if it hasn't fully hardened, and even if it has, it is possible that too much cleaning action could remove it. Test, test test on area and see what happens.

Is this pillar painted? Or plastic?

    Thank You!

If you were in my shoes would you do it like I said (step 1-9) and be careful or do

      1- Remove old touchup "Langka/thinner"
      1- #83
      2- #80
      3- Prep
      5- Touchup
      6- Wait 24hr
      7- Smooth and Clear Coat
      9- Wait 24hr
10- Wax around touch up paint and 2 weeks later wax the whole hood again

"Is this pillar painted? Or plastic?"

The pillar is painted metal and a painted plastic part next to the window (it's a 04 grand cherokee limited)

      Thanks Again!
