  • Service Interval

I was reading all of the fine print that came with my g100 that i ordered from ads, and on it, it says that the unit should be sent after 100 hours of usage to a certified porter cable mechanic to be relubricated. Do yall usually do this?

      Re: Service Interval

No, i was asking about the paragraph before that.

"Your machine is lubricated at the factory with sufficient lubricant to last for approximately one year's operation time. To add lubricant, it is necesary to dismantle the tool. This operation should always be handled by the nearest Porter-Cable authorized service center. All repairs and servicing made by these centers are fully guaranteed against defective materials and worksmanship"

But i see what you are talking about in the next paragraph.

"At approximatley 100 hours of use, take or send your tool to your nearest authorized Porter-Cable Service Station to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected; worn parts replaced, when necesary; relubricated with fresh lubricant, if required; reassembled with new brushes; and performance tested."

So i guess we are pretty much talking about the same thing.

I don't own the tool but I'd send it in for a check-up. Costs you probably a lot less compared to a new machine.

I believe most ACE hardware stores are certified PC locations. Mine is. I have a high school buddy who works there and I drop my PC off every fall with a six pac of Sam Adams and he lubes and checks for brush wear. I don't know what this service normally costs but check with your local Ace hardware store.

              Re: Service Interval

I know I'm asking for trouble, but when I bought my G100 at Meguiar's HQ, I was told that Meguiar's didn't recommend lubrication and that servicing was not required to maintain the warranty.
