  • #81 difficult to remove?

    Hi guys,

Just been applying #81 by PC on speed 3.5.........when done I found it VERY difficult to remove..........I'm wondering if another MF other the Ultimate Wipe I was using might help i.e. something with a bit more bite?

    Any ideas or suggestions appreciated

I would guess since it is supposed to be put on by hand, maybe it is drying out too much with the machine making it hard to take off. Only a guess though.

Thanks Brian..........it's a possible..........I know from other threads it can be applied by PC though at speed 3.5 to 4

I'll tell you what though I think this is going to be suoerb when I master the application, I have just topped it qith #21 and boy does it look good apart from a few streaks which is probably due to putting on too much that could possibly be the reason it was difficult to remove aswell........although I really didn't put much on the pad

Then maybe another tactic could be to use a bit more product to give you some more working time so it definitely doesn't dry out and giving you time to wipe it off before it dries.

          Yeah that's a posability Brian.........thanks

I'm determined to master this product as I said earlier I think it's going to be sensational when topped with #21

          Thanks again

My experience with Meguiar's Polishes is that if you use them correctly they are all extremely easy to take off. Even the dreaded #83. I can't imagine a hand polish being harder to take off than 80/82/83/etc.

In that case Brian I must be doing something wrong because I have found #81 to be by far the most difficult polish to remove..........it's like you're trying to remove glue............I have been trying it by hand and it did come off slightly better but still in the "most difficult to remove" bracket!!

                Adding to what bullet1 said.....

I use #81 with my PC all the time, its my personal favorite polish and very easy to use. So.... lets see if I can be of any help, I apply it at speed 3 with Meguiars finishing pad. You have to remove the polish wet/damp or it will become very hard to remove as bullet1 mentioned. Also apply to a cool surface in the shade(I would guess you already are). If you do end up with a dry spot I re-apply polish to the dried area and wipe again.

                  Hi gb387,

Thanks for the reply..........I think I'll try it with one pass and zero pressure on a small 18" square area

How much do you apply to the pad, that's the only other thing I can think of that could possibly effect how it removes?

Yesterday I started the car in the afternoon, the weather was just fine, then I moved the car into the garage and started with #81 about an hour or so after washing and prepping it (about 7pm) so I would say the conditions perfect

When I first start I will apply the traditional 'X' then there after I will apply a few drops to the pad.

I had the same problem I now use it solely by hand and it works awesome i find by hand a little tends to go a long way. Greg

                        Thanks for that greg

I know it will be awesome when I get the hang of it...........when I did use it, although I ran into a few problems, after topping with #21 I have never seen the car look so good

The full plan is likely to be #81 then #21 then #16
