    I got a 2005 Black GMC Z71 truck using the PC with W8006 pad, #80 @ speed 5 causes micromarring. Im using a thin bead around the outside of the pad, working the product in until its broken down and I have micromarring all over the finish when the light hits it. If I go to a W9006 pad it clears it all up. Has anyone encountered this problem?? What are some other options I could try?

    I think you answered your own question.

    Your paint just might not respond well to #80 and a 8006 pad. Remember, the #80+8006 recomendation is for 90 - 95% of the vehicles out there, not for everything.

    I assume your truck is well taken care of, so major cleaning shouldnt be an issue. So:

    1. Just start off with #80 on a 9006 pad next time.

    2. Or you can play around by following up with #9/#82 on a 9006 pad if you feel like you want to use #80 on a 8006 pad.

    3. Or do as you are now, applying #80 twice, once with each pad.

    All 3 are fine options, just have to taylor it to your paint/routine.

      I had almost the same thing happen to me. I was polishing out a Dodge 1500, and was left with micro-marring after #80. I then tried #9 with a 8006 pad, and it also left fine micro-marring. I finally switched to the 9006 pad, and some #80. But it left ultra fine marring. Tried the #9 with a finishing pad, and presto swirls free. I then repeated the same process to the rest of the truck. Luckily for me, I found this out during my test spots.

        I tried several things tonight.. I picked up a new 8006 and 9006 pad on my way home.. Gave #80 a try again with the 8006 @speed 5. Marring and hazing. Stepped to the 9006 and gave it 3 passes and did not clear up much of the hazing or marring. So I jumped up to #83 w/9006 and it did clear it up some. Tried #9 and #82 with the 9006 and there was no change. I gave that 3 passes aswell. Earlier this summer I had some problems and got new pads and I was fine after that. So Im thinking my problem is the weather.. Little humid out. Last two days you broke a sweat just sitting outside. Humidity sure has dropped, but I do think it is still up there where Im used to it from being in it in the last two days that is what is causing the problems Im having. I remember the last time I tried a new pad all I had was very very fine marring that either NXT or #21 eliminated and now its not even eliminating what I have now.

          In your first post, it sounded like #80 and 9006 cleared things up? Did it not clear it up this time?

            First post did not make too much sense since I was thinking and typing on 2 hours of sleep.

            First attempt at polishing yesterday with the 80 and 8006 is causes marring. I went over it 3 times with a #80 and 9006 and cleared the marring up some. Then I tried #9 and #82 AFTER the #80 with a 9006 and there is no change. If I go over it with ScratchX and a hi-tech applicator its clears alot of it up. If off today thru monday so I will take some pics and post here to let you see.

              Well, I tried several applications with #80, #82, #09 with a 9006 pad in various spots and can not remove the marring. However in the sun light you can not see it. You can see the marring with a zenon and standard flashlight. But when the sun hits it you can not see it at all. I dont know. I guess I give up and thats the best I can get from it. Black is a hard color to get it looking 100% with the PC but there is a improvement in it so I will have to settle for that I guess.

              Its hard to take a picture of what Im seeing. I have to adjust a few settings on my camera to get it the way I want. I will post them though..

                Hmm... yes if those combinations dont want to work with either pad, then hopefully someone with similar paint can chip in.

                My Subaru is failry workable at least...

                  Its not working the way it should be... I guess my G100a might become a new anchor for my neighbors 12' aluminum fishing boat real soon! Im beyond fustrated.

                    here are the results AFTER using a 9006 pad using 83, 83, 82, 9. That marring and hazing is originally from the 8006 with #80 and after trying to polish it out with 80 on a 9006 I was able to reduce it to that, but can not get any better. ScratchX by hand will do a decent job.
