Is there any advantage in using speed 6?
I know Megs recommends up to 5 only.
And I keep it at 5.
Just when I used it to sand some cabinets
I used 6 and a different plate. A notable increase in power.

I believe that using speed 6 can cause your pad to possibly come apart. Don't want that to happen!

If you run the polisher at the 5.5 or 6.0 setting, you will generate enough heat that after a while the heat, violent oscillation action together with the chemicals that saturate into the Velcro, (both on the foam and the backing plate), will cause the adhesive to give-up and your Velcro will de-laminate.

Thanks. was not sure if it would work "faster" at 6. Then sanding is different from polishing.
Did get rather warm when I was finished sanding.

The answer to your question is yes, it will do more work at speed 6 than it would at 5.
