Pneumatic vs Electric DA

I have an 8 gal compressor and would like to get a pneumatic DA polisher. Just curious what peoples opinions are regarding pneumatic vs electric. If you have an pneumatic that you like please let me know about the brand/model and what you like about it.

Do they even make pneumatic DA polishers? I never heard of one before...

I have used a 5 inch DA sander with hook backing 6 inch pads on small parts ,works fairly well . Can be used as both a rotory with the spindle lock and a DA polisher unlocked . Dont think I would want to do a whole car with it though.

Yes, there are pneumatic DA buffers.

You don't see pneumatic tools used by detailers too much because good ones are usually expensive and require an awful lot of air to run (read that as a big, expensive and not portable compressor). You see them used a lot in factories.

To decide if your compressor can run a particular tool you need to compare the compressor's output capacity to the tool's required air flow.

As an example, the National Detroit model DA sander/polisher (guess who originally coined the term "DA") requires 11-13 CFM at 45-60 psi of air to run. If your compressor can't continuously deliver that much air it won't be able to keep the tool going.
