  • NXT Tech Wax with W8006?

    Hi,

    Some advice please...

What would be the pressure on the head of the PC if i were to apply the Tech Wax with a W8006 pad? I intend to use the cleaning power of the tech wax to remove some minor-minor swirls.

Well, it is usualy about 15 lbs, but i dont think Nxt will really be able to remove swirls. It has cleaners, but not really the swirl removing kind of cleaners.

But you can give it a try and see what happens.

It might give you impression it got rid of swirls - but it is just going to do some minor "filling" of the swirls. NXT is a GREAT wax, but that's what it is - a WAX.

It will hide them for a while, but they will return. Toss some #80 on there - you will be amazed at the effectiveness of it when used correctly - and it leaves a great gloss that NXT will just flow so nicely over...

      Good luck!

Nxt's cleaners are basically intended to slightly clean the surface so that the Nxt adheres better. It's not intended to (and probably won't) remove swirls, etc.

I would start off with DC1 paint cleaner -- it's removed nearly all of the minor swirls that we had on our 9-3 Vert; it seems like a perfect fit for your situation. Added bonus is you buy DC1 nearly anywhere, and it's cheap.

Thanks Guys. I guess i was trying to be lazy and get away from using #80 prior to waxing. I guess i would try #66 if i want to just do a 1-step...

If you have VERY minor swirls, #66 might be your best choice. It will remove very light swirls, and once topped with NXT - you now have two coats of wax over clean paint...in TWO steps!

As a detailer, #66 topped with NXT is one of my favorite combinations.
