  • Qusestion on Technique

does anyone have any tips/recommendations for DACP polishing technique on heavily contoured, creased, & seamed body panels?

On the roof of my Saturn Vue, I first went between the ribs on the roof & tried to get the product onto the sides of the rib, then a few passes directly over the top of the ribs.

But on fender blisters & inside creases, I usually ended up finishing tight areas by hand for fear of burning/thinning edges of creases & seams. Lots of compound angles & curves... wanted as complete coverage as possible. Would welcome any input...

Are you using the G-100 (PC7424) or a rotary? I can't help you if you're using the rotary, but with the G-100 you don't really need to worry. My PT Cruiser has similar issues except it's a lot more curvy where the VUE is sharper angles. Still, with the PC there's really no need to worry about burning through the paint.

I'm using the PC 7336- same (almost) as G-100.

These two pictures were taken this past Thanksgiving weekend after I spent many hours giving the PT the works. Not a hint of a problem with the PC on all these curves.

With the G100 your chance of burning the paint is slim to none. If you put to much pressure on it the motion will stop. You can put your hand down on a flat surface and then put the G100 on top and put a bunch of weight down on your G100 and you will not get burned or anything. I have been using one for years and have never had any damage done.

            Hi mike,

I too have a PT, and was worried about buying/using a g-100 on the PT, with all of those curves...

Do you have any other tips / tricks on using g-100 ?

            Thanks in advance.
            Glen
