  • No results....

today i clayed my car, wasnt too happy with the new megs clay, ill try a little later, but when i used my 83/80 combo, i wasnt seeing the results i expected....

the problem was 9006 pads....on a white car....some of the majpr swirls were removed, but there was now a giant layer of what looks like etching....

question is, if i redo the car, with the 8006 pads as recommended, will these etchings have a better chance of beong removed? i assume yes, but i wanna know if i will be wasting my time....

    the process would be 83-80-dc1-dc2-nxt-nxt-nxt

The W-9006 is a finishing pad, if you can, try to remember has soft the foam was before you used it, of if you have a second, unused W-9006 finishing pad, feel it?

It's so soft, you could apply a skin lotion to your face with it.

    It's soft.

It's not the correct pad for the chemicals you used.
It's not the correct pad for the job you wanted to do.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of success stories using our products with the dual action polisher on this forum as well as other forums, so the problem is not with the products.

Try reading the below link and then using the M80 with the W-8006 polishing pad.

Maybe someone else will chime in with some more help...

Could be your technique as most everyone else seems to get great results?

well, on the bad sections, the clay drug a lot, and it pulled the stuff out, i was able to listen to the bar glide across the surface and hear the differences....but when it came time to do the rest, there was still wax on my car....as far as the 83/80 go, it has to be the pad, as scratch x was doing an awesome job on some of the spots i tested it on....

i later caved to heat and dizziness, and ordered the correct pads and will finish the job as soon as they arrive

          The pad is the problem
#80 and #83 are ment to be use with a W8006 pad at speed 5 with 15-20 pounds of pressure

After looking through this forum alot, it seems to me its all about "TECHNIQUE". Thats why i can't wait for Sunday in mechanicsburg so Mike can show me the right way . I have the G100, m80 sampler, and lots of pads coming friday, but i want to learn the technique on claying and using the G100 before i start doing anything.

well, aside from the wrong pad, i saw great results....just not enough....

the 9006 pad, guessing, didnt allow the product to cut into the paint enough to remove the defects....

Orionz- yea, just be sure when you clay that you use enough detailing mist. You should not be able to "hear" the clay making any noise as it goes across the car. It should glide without much effort at all. You can apply a little pressure as you do it but the clay will do most of the work. If you go over to far and get into an area that is without detail mist, you will FEELand HEAR the difference. You DO NOT want this to happen. Stay within the misted area. You also want to turn your clay over and reknead it periodocally as it gets dirty.

As for the 9006 pad w/ 83 or 80, you will not get the results you are looking for. A 9006 is primarily for applying a wax and/or sealant. It is very soft and non-aggressive. It will not allow you to remove much defect if any.
The 8006 will allow you to achieve the results I'm think you are looking for. It's a little bit firmer and will allow you the ability to go after defects. It will work hand in hand with the 83 and 80. I can relate to the frustration you may feel with the G100. I too got the frustration bug after my purchase. BUt what I found in my case was a technique issue on my part. I had to learn the proper way to use the G100 to get the best results from it.

I spent a lot of time on here reading and researching. There are some excellent threads on here regarding the proper use of the G100. Here is one of the best ones:
                  http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...=&threadid=296

You just have to make sure you do not try to work too large of an area, try like the size of a regular MicrFiber towel, use correct pad, correct arm speed, correct machine speed (Most applications will be 3-5) and correct amount of lbs of pressure on machine.

HOpe this helps my friend. I'm no professional but I have learned a little from being on here and trial and error. I just hope I can help you get the results you want in the long run. Best of Luck....
