is the G-100a with an 8006 foam pad good enough to maintain a fiberglass boat? Or do I have to use a rotary on a boat?

The G100A is a great machine to maintain a boat. It really comes down to the condition and products that you are using. Most boats on today’s market have a hard gel coat finish. These finishes are much harder and thicker than an auto clear coat finish. Because of this depending on the condition, sometimes a high speed rotary buffer is the method needed to re-new the surface. The G100a will work on almost all types of Boat paint defects if used in conjunction with the right products and pads. The W8006 is a great all around pad. You can use it to apply all types of paint cleaners and polishes. The W7006 Foam Cutting Pad is another pad that works well on a gel coat finish for paint cleaning. The G100a is a great way to get amazing result and save a ton of time. I have been detailing for about 8 years and had a boat service. The machine is a life saver. Meguiar's does make a full line of Boat and RV products. These products work very well with the G100a.Ash Erickson

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you prepping the boat? Polishing? Waxing? The W8006 works great for cleaning and polishing the boat and can be used to apply a wax, but I would use the w9006 when you apply your wax. The G100A is a great machine and will allow you to have a great shine and protection when finished.

Thanks for the replies.. I am looking for a complete detail of my boat.. I want to do the equivalent of a 5-step detail on a car.. Mostly remove oxidation and restore the shine as much as possible. It is a 10yr old boat that wasnt maintained well.
Whats the best setting to use the G100a for oxidation, cleaning and applying wax?Last edited by gtp; May 3, 2006, 03:31 AM.
