  • Whats Meg's recommendations for 66 with a D/A

What is Meguiars' recommendations for appling and removing #66 with a DA?

What type of surfaces can I expect it to work on? I notice it has a cutting power similar to #80, so is it as effective as removing imperfections as 80, or is it slightly more mild because it is a 2 in 1 cleaner/wax? Also, what type of wax/sealent is it, synthetic or carnuba/natural?

Also, when using 66, after I wipe of the wax, how long should I wait before (If I choose to do so) applying a topper of 21?

      Hey,

I am sure Mike will chime in.... But until then...you are stuck with me!

Meguiar's #66 Quick Detailer is a strong cleaner wax that, in my opinion, is one the greatest under-rated products in the Meguiar's line-up! It leaves a deep rich gloss and very good protection. It is also a blended wax.

From my experience with using it, I get the best results for swirl removal using it with a rotary buffer. With the DA, it will remove mild marring with a W-8006 and the speed set to #5. Apply it over a given area (12"x12") , and really work it in until its diminishing abrasives have broken down (the color of the product becomes somewhat clear (not perfectly) and is a very light residue). Then move on to the next area allowing the #66 to set up. After completing 4 sections or so, do the Swipe Test, and then come back with a W-7006 pad covered with a MF bonnet to remove those sections. Remove with the DA set to speed 5. Complete the entire car in this manner.

In the perfect world, it would be best to allow the #66 to set up overnight before topping it, if you so choose. You do not need to as it is a durable product...but if you want more.... . I tend to top it with #20 Polymer Sealant. I have found this combo to look awesome!!! Rich, wet and glossy!

If you can not wait until overnight, try and allow at least 3-4 hours if possible before topping. I have done this numerous times and have not noticed any differences in the quality of the finish nor its durability.

      How's that?

Sweet, thanks for the reply. I just did my wifes and my cars with 83, 80, followed by 21.

I have a gallon of 21 and a gallon of 66 laying around, so I guess I'll be topping 66 with 21 instead of 20. I only have a D/A, so I guess thats what I'll be using.

Thanks for the reply, very good. Would you say the cutting power of 66 is equal to that of 80 with a DA?
