  • Am i putting to much Pressure???

This is my first experience with the G100. It looks to me the pad and the packing plate were still when i was pressing the head of the DA.
I have read Mike's article on using the G100 and how much pressure to put on the head.!

Just wanted to see if someone had experienced the same.

    Regards.

Well, explain "still" By still, do you mean that the pad/backing plate were not "rotating" around? This is common and does not necessarily mean that you are doing anything wrong.

By still you mean you could not physically see any "vibration" at all as you were working the DA, then yes, it is possible you are pressing to hard. But, I think you would have to be pressing awfully hard for this to happen.

Try to give us a little more info. Also, let us know what speed you had the DA set on.

      Thanks Jeff for reply,

Yes the pad/backing plate were not rotating around. I had to release some of the pressure to get it back and working the product.

I was applying #80 @ speed setting 4. But , the end result were excellent.

I might just go ahead and try again , Basically keep practicing.

      regards

Well, At least it sounds like you have it under control. I can't think of any time I have applied enough pressure to stop all movement. Hopefully some of the others will throw some opinions and thoughts in here.

        Good luck with it.

I think I know what you mean...it's vibrating but rotating slowly, just let up on the pressure a bit and it'll rotate like a DA polisher should. I think you're putting too much pressure.

The rotating does mean more cleaning power, if the foam pad stops rotating then try easing up on the pressure.

Also, M83 is not as slippery as M80, you'll see more rotating action with M80 than you will with M83

              It's a balancing act...

I'd say too much pressure. A trick I learned from Mike was to use a sharpie marker and make a line on the outer edge of the pad. While using the G100 make sure that line is still rotating around - if it's not, then you're using too much pressure.

Go ahead and bump your speed up to 5 using M80.
