  • Rent A Dual Action Polisher

    Just an idea I had.

Some of you don't need to have a D.A. all the time. Other of you might want to try one out before you buy one.

I own 14 dual actions and thought about renting them out.

You would get a D.A. with a velcro backing plate. The products and pads are on you.

Every penny made from this idea will go to the children of -

World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. We serve the world's poor— regardless of a person's religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

What do you think? Any interest? It will go to a good cause.

What would a fair rental charge be?

Let me know and we will ge this thing going.

What a fine idea. I hope it goes over well Joe.

I dunno what a fair price might be. I have never rented a powertool before. I am sure there are others who have rented powertools and can kick out some idea of the prices they paid for rentals. Hope so anyway.

Another thought to make things a tad easier for the new person who is unfamiliar would be the option of purchasing whatever pads are needed from you. This might make it more of a "one-stop-shopping" type of thing. But I don't the ins & outs of whether or not you are allowed to sell the products or you may not wish to do that. Just an idea though.

    Good luck with this.

      Thanks for your input Jeff.

I don't think I want to sell anything. I will make recommendations on what pads and such if that will help.

A call to ADS, Meguiars or the local distributor will get you whatever you need.

Of course I would help in anyway that I could with advice.

I am leaning toward the rental fee being $15 per week plus shipping.

The rental would be only for MOL members.

Joe, I have to salute you for once more reaching out to those less fortunate. I know you bought several PC's for that big school bus job and talked about selling them after...but to help out MOL members and then donate the proceeds to charity...

A week being 7 days? If it were 7 days I would say $20 would be fair. or $30 for 7days (you the renter pay round shipping.) I'm not sure how far into retail you have gone with your business, but myself learning on my own business I would suggest looking into these things. (Or you can talk to me about whatever I know.)

            Require a deposit.
Ship ONLY to the CREDIT/DEBIT card billing address.
            Require Signatures upon customer arrival.
(Would these be G100 or PC7424/somewhere along that line)
You might need to insure it both ways if it is a G100.
Use a reputable shipping company with SUFFICIENT tracking. (aka, NOT US Mail)
Would the customer pay for any damages, or would that be condsidered maintenance? (also consider maintenance / wear into the costs.)

I would also think about renting pads (which would make it more worth while.) Maybe some of your old pads that arent top notch, but arent beat to s***. If you think about it, I dont think most people would want to buy pads without having a polisher. It would be like buying controllers for the Game system you rent. (IMO not very likely.) As far as this renting goes, I think that the biggest section of people that you are going to get from this are (people who just cant afford the polisher yet, and people wanting to "test drive" the item. So you might not get alot of repeat customers.

Thats all I can think of right now. BTW if you dont mind, are these from the Bus job? If you are willing, I need to buy a DA, if you want to sell one

What a great idea...helping the needy plus a fellow MOL member. I might be interested in renting once you work it all out. You sure have a big heart.

I don't really have any good idea's that already haven't been suggested, but I think it's pretty awsome what you're offering to do!

Joe if by any chance you can find a spot where a few number of cars can detail their cars and have some kind of rental fee then I can gather up a few Z's for a mini-event. Let me know if by any chance we can possibly do something like that. I think it would be a great way to introduce Meguiar's to some and also to raise proceeds toward the charity......just an Idea

Superior Shine- Just a big for doing this.

I've often thought about such a thing at [another site], especially for things like the Cyclo that people might have buyer's remorse over. But I never did anything towards making it happen- your actually stepping up to the plate to put such a thing together has my deepest respect.
