  • Results from PC use on my car.

    Hello all,

These are some pictures of my daily driver (16 months old) after about 7 hours of cleaning, polishing and waxing with my DA tool. I apologize for the sharpness of the pictures; it was overcast that day plus the car is silver so it did not show off the result as much, but here they are anyway:

That's a very clean looking detail! Great work!

Have your neighbors and friends starting asking you to detail their cars yet?

            Hi Mike,

No neighbors asking yet, though plenty of them have seen me slave away on Saturday mornings. Quite of few of my neighbors have cars that you could tell they take great pride in, and are often clean. But like my co-worker's G35 that I detailed (Extreme Makeover section), these neighbor cars are all 20 feet fakes.
Just as well that I don't have neighbors asking... I have about 5 or 6 co-worker's cars lined up to get worked on so I'll be plenty busy for weekends to come. All I have to do now is to figure out a way to shave time off, because every car I've done so far has taken me at least 6 hours to do. Any suggestions from looking at my process?

Next time you "could" skip the second wash and just make sure to wipe the QD off well from claying. If you still have doubts, an additional QD will cover it and these should get rid of the drying step there as well.

Also you could try doing without the #7 after the #80. There will be a slight difference depending on you skill level with working the #80 but you will likely be the only person who will ever notice.

Other than those 2 possibilities, I can't think of anything else other than the fact through continial practice you will can experience and in turn your process will likely improve and a time reduction will be realized.

Car looks great though. Did you apply a 2nd coat of the NXT??

Don't mistake my enthusiasm for experience.

2nd coat of NXT was applied, but this time by hand, because I didn't think my arms were sore enough to give me that sense of accomplishment.
Actually my hands and arms were shaking from the vibration of the PC so I decided to apply by hand only.

Stunning, i know how hard it is to make silver look good, but you have done it in 'spades'.

Also living in the UK i am amazed at the level of space you have in the USA, the property's are huge and the roads are so clean

We just live to damm close together, i feel like a hamster in a very small cage....

Well, as said above, very well done, take care.

Nice job! Skip the second wash, it's not needed! If you left any clay residue on the car (not likely) you will feel the towel catch on it when you are wiping off the clay lube (QD). And I agree that when using #80, the #7 is not necessary.

Also, to save time, use the G100 to apply and remove the NXT for both coats.

Great job! Gave me the incentive to get going on my wife's silver Honda Pilot.

wonderful results! I wish I had those reflections on my silver metallic paint!

I think it's time for me to consider buying a buffer too instead of doing things by hand.

Thank you guys for all of your compliments... I am all for "instant gratification", and being able to see that big a difference from using Meguiar's products + PC in such a short time is great! Since this detail, I have bought and used a Makita Rotary Tool on my car's horizontal surfaces (the PC is more than capable of removing the minor defects on vertical surfaces) and the reflections are even more apparent now. I just have to be careful I don't detail too much for fear of removing all the clearcoat on the car some day.

                            Thanks again.
