  • Having Various Pads

Well I have read some of the posts that are out there for the G-100 and I see that most people seem to have a variety of pads for each particular product so that products don't get contaminated on each pad from using multiple products on one pad. My question is when it comes to items such as #80, #83, #84, #82, #7, #9, and so forth is it okay to use the same polishing DA pad with all these products?? Also, is it okay to use the same pad for such products as NXT Wax, #21, #20, #66, etc.?? I just wonder if you have to have seperate pads for every single product or if it is okay for the products that are sort of in the same family to be used on the same polishing pad with the G-100. Hope you all understand my question here.

Meguiars recommends having separate pads for all products.... This probably won't answer your question exactly but might give you another option. I don't want to spend the cash on all the pads so this is what I do; I wash my pads after 2-3 uses, by hand with dish soap. I first let the sit in the soapy water solution for 10 min, then gently "work" the pad to remove the product and rinse very well. Stand them up on end to dry, the water will run to one end and seems to dry much faster with the standing on end. I do have the pads numbered 1, 2, 3 and one not numbered; 1 is only for dedicated cleaning products(8006), 2 is for cleaner/polishes(8006), 3 is for waxes(9006) and the no number is for pure polishes(9006). If I change to a different product (even in the same "family") I always start with a clean/washed pad.

I have had good luck with this process... I have only had one pad where the backing came off the pad, the pad was well used and at the end of its life anyway. I have used this process for 3-4 years now.
