  • 7006 pad Mushrooming

I have a couple of 7006 pads that I stretch the Bonnets over for wax removal. I have 2 of them that have pretty much mushroomed. Probably due to the tightness of the bonnets along with my tendency to use the edge of the pad/bonnet to get into crack and crevices as best I can.

I have taken these pads and put them in a plastic baggie with 2 bricks on them for about a week trying to get them to regain some of there original shape. No luck.

The pads are still usable but now the bonnets seem to fit them a little looser as compared to the way they would fit when they were still like new. Also, this mushrooming effect has made the pads such as they are very hard to do along edges and stuff anymore.

Has anyone else encountered this and if so, were you able to come up with a fix to get these back into there original shape and have them retain that shape for any length of time?

I have had the 7006 pad do the same to me. To me it seems like the velcro backing shrinks up after I cleaned it with soap and water. It has only happened with that pad though. What I did to fix mine was get it wet again and roll it the opposite of it mushrooming and put a rubberband around it a let it dry.

I have not cleaned mine. I only have use mine as a backing for the GC Bonnet to remove wax. Wine has mushroomed due to my using the edge of the pad to get into corners and such.

I might try dampening them and placing a weight on them. I have placed the bricks on them before but did not dampen them first. Maybe that wil help.
