  • Is There A Product That Is Safe For Both Vinyl/Plastic & Leather.

    Hi,

I use Meguiar's Leather conditioner for the leather, and Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant on all the interior vinyl/plastics.
However, when I do places like the Steering Wheel especially, there is leather and plastic in such close proximity to each other and I am always touching up here and there, because either I got some leather conditioner on the plastic, or plastic conditioner on the leather.

I always worry if it is okay if some of the Natural Shine Protectant gets on the leather. If there is a better product than the ones I mentioned that would be great as well.
I know the steering wheel is real leather, other parts of cars it can be harder to tell, but I would think from the feel they are most likely pleather so for them I just use the Natural Shine.

    Thanks
    I Never Use Signatures.

Great question. Meguiar's Leather Care products are OK for use on vinyl, rubber, or colored plastic, however products for these surfaces are preferred. Meguiar's products made specifically for vinyl, rubber, or colored plastics such as Natural Shine Protectant are not ideal for use on leather overtime.

How does one determine if a surface is 'leather' or something similar to leather? I have a 2020 RDX...the seat surfaces I assume are leather, but what about the door panel parts and other pieces that are the same color and 'feel' of the seat. Are they leather..faux leather, or just fancy vinyl? How can one tell regardless of the car make/model/year?

I do not know of a way to identify visually. Would recommend trying to scour the internet through forums, Reddit's, & Facebook groups that specifically discuss your car or similar. That said, personally, anything that feels/looks similar to the seating of the vehicle, I personally would care for with leather products.
