  • Sticky substance on dashboard

    Hi!

I bought a Fiat Tipo Sedici last week. I have removed the seats to give it a good clean. There is a sticky substance on the dashboard, that looks like black paint (on my hands). I cannot imagine that someone applies paint on the dashboard, but if he did, it should be dry by now.

Could this be a (cheap) silicones' solution that is somehow reacting to the synthetic material? Should I remove it first (with refined petrol or white spirit) - I will apply it to a blind spot first- and then apply a M-product or it there a M-cleaning product? Any tips for the right product to apply?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Drapu to Meguiar's Online.

I would try to avoid using strong solvents (with refined petrol or white spirit) unless everything else fails.

I don't know if you can get it in The Netherlands but Meguiar's M-39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner is very good for cleaning dashboards.

Have you tried soap or detergent and water? If that doesn't work maybe a citrus cleaner.

    PC.

      Re: Sticky substance on dashboard

Lords the problem of the dashboard sticky has plagued me too for some time.
I asked the cost of a new dashboard UNBEARABLE!
I asked the owner of a car wash the cost to solve the problem 300 EURO!
I thought the use of a degreaser and put so pasienza to remove all that sticky substance from the dashboard to bring my car to the state of a car of the early eighties!

      I found this product STARDUST!

Today my car and as I had bought with half an hour of work.

      sincerely
