My wife is out of town at a conference, so I figured I'd clean up the Regal's interior.
I start at the back seat on one side, put the front seat all the way forward, then move to the front and put the seat all the way back, then do the same on the other side. So I vacuumed the seat, then the floor really well, pulled out the floormat, and then vacuum again with the crevice tool.
Then here's a trick I do on doors and vinyl. What I do is spray some cleaner (usually APC+) into the cracks and seams, then vacuum. You would be amazed at how well little crumbs and crud come out. It's like going over it with a brush, maybe better than that. So I got to thinking, why not do this on leather, but instead use some distilled water? Let me tell you, this worked like a charm! I also used distilled water for the rest of the cracks and crevices, where I'd usually use a cleaner. Distilled water in a spray bottle is becoming my new best friend.
I only used APC+ on areas of the carpet that looked dirty, I didn't really want to spray the interior down with it. Then I scrubbed it with a brush, and vacuumed it out. Then I went over the same areas again with distilled water and sprayed them down heavily and vacuumed it out to remove the cleaner residue. I've thought I could probably use my pump-up garden sprayer full of distilled water for this in lieu of an extractor if I wanted to do more heavy cleaning of the carpets.
Then I laid the floor mats out on the driveway, hosed them down, scrubbed them with APC+, and hosed them down again to clean them. They are sitting out drying right now.
APC+ worked great, it really cut through everything I needed it to. The mats still have some bad areas, but they are probably permanent. The mats have had it rough for sure.
I took a break for lunch, but next I'm gonna wipe the dash and doors and such down with distilled water and soem terry towels. I'll APC+ any areas that don't come clean from that. Then I'll probably hit it with NXT Tech Protectant if for no other reason than I have two bottles of it now (one branded "Cockpit Protectant" or something). Though the same could be said of #40 and Vinylex. I don't know why I buy so much of those when I use them so slowly...
Then I'll hit the leather with Lexol cleaner, and probably condition it with Medallion Leather Care. I got some NXT Glass Cleaner, so I'm looking forward to trying that out as well (well not really, I hate cleaning glass).
