  • Advice on M40 - Scent too Strong

I recently began using M40 vinyl and rubber cleaner and protectant on my MBTex seats. It cleans and conditions them to a softer feel but the smell is bad. My wife gets sick once she steps in the car. What are recommendations for an alternative Meguiars product that conditions vinyl? I cannot use this one any longer on my seats.

    Thanks.

You can use D181 or Gold Class Cleaner/Conditioner. Both are all in one type products.

For a stand alone conditioner you have Gold Class Leather conditioner Spray and also the Gold Class Leather Sealer System if you are looking for something longer lasting.

MBTex is vinyl though not leather.

I do have D180 which is the leather cleaner and conditioner in my garage.

IMO M40 is more meant for exterior use. Especially for rubber seals... It really brings those back to life.

        As Guz said: D180
It is great on vinyl an leather. I have used it on my dash and door cards before to dress them too.

You may want to clean the M40 off of your seats with APC or a leather cleaner before trying anything else though. Help get rid of the M40 smell.

Then use that. That works really well.

I second Das's comment about cleaning off M40 prior to application. Perhaps D180 will have enough cleaning power to remove it with the light cleaners built in.

Anything made for leather can be used for vinyl, but not the other way around. That being said, I too would go with D180. Stuff smells great. Apply with a microfiber applicator for best results

I will clean off the M40 today. I have to say after being stuck in the car for an hour drive, it is rather potent.

Thank you all for your help
