  • Grossest, most disgusting job you've cleaned up?

I've come across vomit, urine and now rotting chix.
So what's the grossest thing you've cleaned up?

Automotive related? Well, I did an Escalade this summer and it appears that the owners daughter or son, who are both young, spit up on the cupholders and stuff in the back. That was kinda grody. There were a few areas of that.

At the shop I work at... Well... Let's just say the bathroom has seen a few bad days over the 4 years I've been there... Luckily I can handle it all lol.

Chocolate milk shake spilled in the back seat of a Suburban.

Dog urine in an old Chrysler 300.

Enough sweat & body oils on some vehicles to turn the arm rests white.

Yeah, that's disgusting, don't think I could beat that. I've had some vomit and urine as well, (had one customer that had dog **** in his car that had been smeared all over due to the dog walking through it while left in the car, but unfortunately I couldn't get to him in time so he had to go elsewhere - which I was more than fine with).

What's almost worse than these types of "issues" is when its just a collection of dirt from years of neglect. The amount of dead skin cells and body dirt inside some cars is downright gross and I have no idea how some people can simply get in the car everyday and drive to work.

I have had some dog urine and vomit to clean up. That was pretty gross. The thing I always remember though was rear cupholders in a minivan with about 2 inches of melted crayon and gummy bears that I had to chisel out with a screwdriver. It took me about 2 hours to get the dang cupholders clean, I wish I had taken a picture.

WARNING: THE IMAGE BELOW IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR WEAK OF STOMACH

A few months ago one of our dogs needed to have surgery to repair a torn ligament in a knee, and during one of his many trips to the vet during that time he had a bit of an accident in the back of my wife's car. Unfortunately for her, she was alone with him at the time and couldn't do much of anything to fix the issue. Unfortunately for me, I had to clean up the mess. And what a mess it was. When my wife called to tell me what happened I thought she was exaggerating the situation a bit. But when I got home that evening and saw her car parked in the driveway with the windows open, instead of in the garage with the windows closed, I got a sick feeling in my stomach. Then I looked inside the car and almost lost it. She hadn't exaggerated one little bit; she had actually under stated the situation. The image below only tells half the story as the other side was just as bad.

I was really worried that this was going to be a lost cause. It was pretty well ground in and mostly dried up. I brushed up as much of the dried material as I could, which wasn't much, and vacuumed what little loose material the brushing created. I then liberally sprayed with APC+, let it dwell for a bit, then brushed some more. I did this a few times, which started to create a truly disgusting "paste" that I could sort of mop up with a terry cloth towel. After a few rounds of this I got a bit more aggressive with the brush and then pulled out our big upright hot water carpet cleaner with the hand attachment. Using a solution of APC+ 10:1 in the soap reservoir and plain, hot water in the rinse reservoir, I went at it. To my great relief it was pulling out the horrendous mess pretty easily at this point. My wife was stunned that it worked so well. The carpet cleaner we have offers great suction power (using it on the carpets at home, also with APC+ at 10:1, the carpets are completely dry in no time) so it did a great job of pulling moisture out of the seats in this situation. Several rounds of rinsing just to be sure I'd gotten all the APC+ out and this was the end result:

Needless to say, everyone was happy with the outcome. A little Odor Eliminator to finish off and you can't tell that the dog ever had a problem that day. Oh, and three months later our little pooch is fully recovered from surgery. And we have a large blanket to lay across the back seat for future road trips even though in his 12 years this was the only such incident. I'm just not going through this again if I can avoid it!

After reading these I think I'm going to refuse/charge double for messes like these.

I work for a used dealership, and we repo a lot of cars. Now the CLientel of thus company is terrible.. I had to clean a vehicle (well lots actually) that had puke through out the car, old moldy pizza, thick sticky **** in every compartment, hair every where, and the smell made the mechanics get very sick... They do not pay me enough!

just got a call for a vomit clean up. I told him $150 he said no, thank god!!!!!

just googed vomit cleanup hazard and found this.

Please remember, you may not know everything about a family member or friend’s medical status. They may not even know, so it’s up to you to protect yourself. You can potentially be exposed to Hepatitis B or C, HIV or other blood-borne pathogens. If handling feces, you could end up with Hepatitis A or parasites. Vomit can contain any number of components, including blood

Fresh vomit that included generous portions of not so digested sushi, add a little vodka cranberry for color, mix in chicken strips chunks and french fries, the outcome? ALL over the floor mat seat belt and my girlfriend. As the DD of the night i took responsibility in cleaning it up at 230am which is one of the last things you want to smell before going to bed. That incident has haunted the cars interior scent to like new, to what died in here!?!?!?
