i have found many, interesting, yet very many tips on exterior detail. what tools to use what best ways etc. but yet to find many more interior tips. in my experience ive come across more experience detailers and ive found that they do not want to share their "secrets". i am not like one of those people. i like to share my knowledge, we can make each others world a little easier more relaxing and less stressful. apparently so does megs hence the forum. so here we go!!! if you have ways tips lets help out each other.
how do you clean interiors? what ways have you found to be easier and better to clean.
i will explain my process and tools. maybe you can too.
first i take out the mats. less work if you take them out instead of vacuuming them(point to be made). i start cleaning all the plastic, vinyl, dashboard, center console. this will have dust dirt that will fall so no point in vacuuming first if you will get more dirt on the carpet. best way to clean plastic for me is my steamer. nothing fancy just a $120 one. does the job. ive found that a good interior cleaner and the steam will help get rid of the dirt on the plastic. i spray the plastic, steam it to make it work faster. i get my microfiber wipe it off and you are good. i get my microfibers from cotco or sams club. great deal. 26 towels for like 13 bucks not bad. and costco 36 for like 16 bucks. good towels. then we move too the carpet. here is my best and favorite tool. the tool that all detailers should have. my cyclo. i use to have to brush like crazy to remove hard stains. and still nothing would come out. or if they did i would be realllly tired. so i came across the cyclo with brush attachments. i get my all purpose degreaser, love this stuff because it wont stain the plastic if you were to get it splatter. spray the stain then let the cyclo do the work. i understand that not all stains will come out because that is the nature of carpet and stains. but have had great results with the cyclo. once i have scrubbed really well. get my hot water extractor and let it pull all the dirt and (whatever else we have in our carpets). if you can invest on a carpet extractor it will make your world much easier. your clients will love you for it. make cleaning a lot better. i have an edic extractor. with the hot water it really helps a lot. ok back to the process after i clean all the plastic and carpet. i go with the seats. many people have problems cleaning seats. well what ive heard. i once again mist the seats with water. then spray the degreaser and use the cyclo. seats usually have milk, juice, soda, water etc. stuff that is really easy to remove but looks very hard. with the cyclo way of cleaning it makes it so easy. i then use the extractor and voila. clean seat a little wet if you have really dirty seats but that is ok because i have a blower. after all that is done i then put the blower facing down onto the carpet. since its more plushy it tends to take a while to dry up. with the blower takes about ten minutes per section. after its all dry on the carpet i place the blower towards the seats. another ten 15 mnts and you have a dry seat. and thats that. oh also headliner, i clean it by spraying the degreaser onto a microfiber towel. and just wipe it off. if i am doing a full detail i do the interior first and then once it is drying do the exterior.
well there you go criticize it let me know what you think, any ideas you guys have hope this helps someone.
thank you
