When I purchsed my car the previous owner he asked if I would like it cleaned by his local detailing shop before I picked it up. Sure enough I said sure and now I am stuck with a dilemma. They used this greasy sticky stuff on the dash and all the plastic and it made a absolute mess. It was shiny as hell but all greasy. I finally managed to get it off the plastic but now my only problem is the carpet. It seems like they they sprayed it everywhere because it got all over the carpet and its all greasy now to the touch. Is their any product that I can use to clean the carpet? |

Re: Cleaning Carpet
If you're lucky they just used a water based dressing loaded with high gloss silicone, and laid it on really heavy. If you can't find our Quik Out locally (it is extremely difficult to find in stores) then you might want to pick up a foaming carpet cleaner at WalMart, Target, etc and use that with a brush to work it out. Rinsing will essentially be accomplished by wetting a terry cloth towel in very warm water, folding it into quarters (or more, depending on how large a towel you're using) and working that in back and forth strokes over the carpet. If you have carpeted floor matts, you can take them out and spray the carpet cleaner on them, brush thoroughly, and then literally hose them off. You'll need to let them dry fully before putting them back in the car, of course, but this is a actually very common practice.Michael Stoops
