  • APC or APC+ for leather seats?

Have some stubborn dirt/discoloration on my Audi S4 recaro silver/grey seats (from prior owner). I've tried traditional leather cleaners. Have read good things about Meguiars APC and so i'm willing to try with a 10:1 dilution.
So... which is recommended? APC or APC+ Does it matter?

    Thanks.

I would go with APC. I have used it several times on leather seas with great results and no ill effects. APC+ has a little degreaser in it and I would be hesitant to use it on leather as it may stain.

To work the APC I would use a toothbrush or a terry towel.

APC+ will work on leather as well. Been using it for years with no problem

Don't ask mr how or why but APC green leaves leather nice and soft after application.. I start with a Tampico brush and agitate and foam it up and for whatever reason it leaves leather nice and soft!

APC should only be used on coated leather. You need to check with Audi or in your owner's manual to see what kind of leather you have. Using APC on vat-dyed leather, or undyed leather, such as Connoly leather, can cause irreversible damage.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Re: APC or APC+ for leather seats?

I prefer APC...about 5:1 (roughly). I like it over APC+ because i had some streaking problems with APC+...it still got the job done...but regular APC did it faster and more uniform.

A quick tip...first make sure you wear some latex gloves or something similar, secondly make sure you wipe away all loose dirt before spraying with APC. Thirdly...do small sections like..the back of one seat...the the bottom of it...not the whole thing at once.

The BIGGEST tip i can give you on this is...when you spray the APC onto the area you're doing...take your hand and smear it evenly all over the area you're doing. My sis started doing this and she was getting really even cleaning everytime we had a job w/leather seats. It does work and save time. After you spread it...scrub with whatever brush you are using (gently of course) then wipe away with a damp towel..be it MF or terry..either will work. I usually keep a dry MF also to wipe away the remaining moisture so i can get a good look at what the result it, but more times that not, its good after one go

Don't get me wrong APC+ WILL work...but ive just had an easier time with regular APC...plus i like that its not as harsh on the leather

A valid point, but "protected leather" (coated) will be found in 99% of all vehicles. Ford's King Ranch F150 is one exception.

We use APC+ 10:1. Even application and dwell time means less actual agitation/friction is required.
If it was easy, everybody'd be doing it!

I bought some Ford Expedition seats back from the dead. APC and APC+ 4:1 ratio. I go big or go home. We wont talk about the nasty stuff that came off. The owner thought they were brand new seats.

I was suprised it was 2 different color seats. The outer part was tan and the inner a lighter, beige. Simply amazed. I followed up with cleaner/conditioner cream for best results.

Probably means APC (which is green) comapred to APC+ (orange).
