  • Tips on cleaning delicate seats?

My seats have a textured fabric and I'm afraid that using too hard of a brush will fray them.

Are any of the newer Meguiars brushes suitable for this?

Any recomendations on which upholstery cleaner to use?

    Thanks!

Your seats appear to be covered in the leather and cloth. On the cloth I would an upholstery cleaner with a microfiber towel to clean. If you have little Green machine that would also work. The seats do not appear to be dirty in the pictures posted, therefore should not take anything overly agressive to come clean.

What was your plan to clean the seats and interior?

No, the pic was just to show the material. That is not my car.

The corners are vinyl not leather.

I just want to clean the front seats. The passenger one has a few soda stains I want to get out and I also want to clean up the dust/dirt that gets trapped inside the textured fabric.

For really dirty vinyl...textured or not...I would suggest using the new Meguiar's All-Surface Interior Brush with M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner (professional formula.) Awesome results in a one-step formula! If you haven't tried this stuff yet...try it! You'll see what I'm talking about.

Follow up with a towel wipe (Ultra Plush Super Terry)...or for a matt finish wipe off with a micro fiber towel (like M9910 Ultimate Wipe or Supreme Shine Microfiber X20.)

I don't need to clean the vinyl guys (got the NXT for that). I want to clean the textured fabric.

              Oh!!! Sorry!!!

              Fabric/upholstery...got it.

              G9416 Carpet & Interior Cleaner
              or
For a professional approach...Detailer All Purpose Cleaner mixed 10:1. A foaming sprayer works well to prevent the fabric from getting too wet.

Use hot water if you can.

If concerned about the Meguiar's Interior Brush, or any other fabric brush, damaging the fabric...just put a micro fiber towel between the brush and the fabric while agitating the stains.

Let the upholstery air out with windows down for a while to allow the fabric to dry.

              Hope this helps.

I have used Meguiars carpet/upolstery cleaning products, so I can say how the products will work for you. I would have to say you will most likely be pleased with the Meguiars products.

Do you have a Little green machine or similar carpet cleaner. If not a shop vac will also work.

If I were to clean seats the plan of attack would be as follows:
                1. Follow directions on cleaner bottle label
                2. Vacuum
                3. Pre-treat stains or other spots needing extra attention with cleaner. Allow about five (5) minutes od dwell time.
                4. Spray cleaner on rest of seat
                5. Spray (mist water) on to seats.
Spray enough water to remove cleaner and dirt, but not enough to saturate the seats. You do not want to make the seats to wet or they will take a long time dry and this could lead to odors or mold.
                5. Vacuum the water and cleaner from the seats
                6. If spot or stains is not removed, repeat steps 3, 5 and 6. This time lightly scrub with a soft bristle brush.

I hope this helps, let us know if this works.
