  • Minor scratch on leather seat. Can it be removed?

    Hello everyone,

Even after putting in a rear seat cover, the dog still managed to put a very fine scratch mark on the leather. It's a small hairline scratch. Personally, it's barely noticeable unless you look for it but it bothers me because I know where it is. (I still love my dog by the way : )

Question is, do I just leave it alone or is there something I can try to perhaps remove it? It's a very fine line between leaving it alone but perhaps try something that won't be abrasive, won't be much work and won't do any more damage by trying to fix it.

The only item I have is Meguiars leather foaming conditioner. I haven't tried it yet. It would be a miracle if it worked but I don't think it's going to do the trick.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks.

I haven't much experience with automotive leather, but I have done some leather crafting in the past and in my experience once you scratch finished leather, it's done for.

I have seen, but never used myself, repair kits for vinyl and leather interior that might be useful to you in this case.

If it's truly a scratch in the leather, you're not going to really "fix" it. But if the mark is as small as you make it sound, then applying a leather dressing may well mask it, and mask it very well.

It's really minor Michael. But if you look at it the right way it's noticeable which theoretically I'm thinking something can be applied to it and "mask" such as you suggested.

Any Meguiar's products you recommend to see if it may work? Do they have any leather dressings available?

Since you've already got the leather foam, give that a try first. If that doesn't quite do it then maybe the Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner lotion or gel will suffice.
