leather seat recovered

I had a seat recover from the dealership and the did a good enough job, but it looks alittle loose. they said it would tighen up with use. I would of thought it would strech and get looser with use. does any one know if what the dealer is telling me the truth or are there other fixes?

I would have thought that most leather slackens (slightly) with use. Try contacting the folks at Leatherique they are very helpful / knowledgeable

Just my opinion but, I tend to agree 100% with TOGWT. Leather will stretch and loose it's form over time thus, I would think that it would only get worse.

A couple of questions for you first though....

What type of vehicle are we talking about here? Year? Make? Model?

My thought here would be that if it's an older vehicle that has been sat within for many years, the foam padding of the seat has probably developed a certain level of memory and thus, has some 'flat' spots. This, in turn, would cause the leather cover to not 'fill out' the entire seating surface. If that's the case, the only way to make it 'right' would be to replace the foam as well.

If the dealership isn't helping out, you might try an auto upholstry shop. I would think that they could 'nip and tuck' the leather back into shape and make it look new again.

we're talking about a 2003 gmc truck. only 4000 miles. it was replaced under warrenty so unfortunatily a uposter is probably out of the question. it has seemed to improve, put still not equal to other seat. I would say a 50 to 75% improvment...better than I would of guess from my first day! I will still try with dealership if it doesn't continue to get better, but I wanted to give them a chance and wait to see if they were right....maybe they were...it just doesn't make sence in my mind, but that aint sayin' much!

well its been awhile and I would have to say the seat did "tighen up" its still not equal but I'm happy At this point the seat doesn't get much use and it seemed to improve every time its used, so maybe if tit had more normal use the improvments would of happen sooner. it still seems alittle backwards to expect it to tighen up but whos complaining.
