  • Carpet cleaner

I have a 1994 pontiac transport minivan with gray carpets, and they clearly show their use. I have tried woolite stain remover and it has done what you would expect, but it enver cleans like I think it should. In many of the detailing pics you guys post, the cartpets always look flawless. How do you do it? What do you use? Is it expensive? I just want the carpets to match the rest of the interior--clean

I would try some Meguiars Quik Out and an Interior brush.

Is that what you use? Do you recommend it?

That is some rust from the drivers seat. I don''t know why it is rusty.

That is supposed to be gray, not brown or tan!

So it is very stained and I want to correct it.

As Nick said, I've had great luck with Quik Out, soak, scrub, rinse, extract apply again as necessary!

          Ick+

          Quik Out

sprayed, scrub with interior brush, extract soap, rinse, extract rinse with a shop vac, nothing fancy!

                  Re: Carpet cleaner

yeah, I only remove the seats out of certain cars, Our Neon has no electric seats and have 4 bolts, our Yukon has junk under it and wont even try it but get what I can.

The Dodge Truck above was a pain but got it out with just a couple of wires for the electric seats. Newer cars has the Airbag controller under the seat and need to be careful!

                  Have fun!

Oh, and check underneath the carpet, if the stain goes beyond the carpet into the insulation you may need to clean and extract that as well to prevent the stain from seeping back into your rug.

Folex works pretty well and can be found at Lowes and Home Depot. It has shocked me how well it works. Spray, agitate, wipe / dab away.

                      Re: Carpet cleaner

I generally switch off, between apc+, and Meguiars carpet and upholstery cleaner. Either one I agitate with a carpet brush wipe up and extract. Both work very well.

                        Re: Carpet cleaner

                        Well, I just finished.

                        I used:
                        lots of oxyclean
                        straight water
                        my trusty wet dry vac
                        a carpet brush

The carpet has a plastic liner that doesn't let water or anything get into the insulation. And keep in mind a lot of these stains and decolorations are from 1-15 years old so I didn't expect to be able to make them look perfect, but there is a large improvement now.

                        pics to come
