  • How to remove blood from carpet

My sister in law had to take her dog to the vet. It had cut it's ear pretty bad and bleed on the carpet in her SUV on the way to the vet. Any ideas on what to use to remove that?

I would use something like Quik Out and an interior brush.

I hope the dog is okay.

The dog is fine. Needed a couple of stitches. The problem now will be keeping him from scratching at the stitches. Thanks for asking!

Any Carpet Cleaner should help out depending on how bad it is.

MEguiars APC+, Quik Out and a brush would probably work

Little Green Machine can help too.

If the cleaners dont work try peroxide, but try it on a small area first.

Blot the blood with an absorbent cloth, being careful not to spread the stain.

Use a small amount of mild detergent directly on the stain. Work the detergent into the stain with a toothbrush or small brush.

Blot the area with a clean, dry, white cloth.

Pour a small amount of ammonia on the stain. Allow the ammonia to sit for several minutes to break up the stain.

Blot the area with a clean, dry, white cloth.

My sister in law used hydrogen peroxide and it worked like a champ!

Never use a vapor steamer or hot water on blood it will set the stain I use peroxide, alcohol, dish detergent etc on various dilutions, works alot of the times , and is enviromentally friendly. Some old school hints from heloise , my grandmother, etc are great cleaning methods that still work today.

I work at a vet, did they give you an E-collar to help prevent her from scratching at the stitches?

I don't know. She and the dog are in Portland, while I am in SoCal.
