Apply leather cleaner with hand?

Is it better to apply and massage in a leather cleaner with your hands?..the one i have says use an applicator but many people and the meguiars video use the hand method

Also, is it neccesary to dress the leather even if they have been cleaned and conditioned with a leather cleaner?

I usualy use a terry ot MF cloth to apply the cleaners and conditioners.

Then let the conditioner sit for 5 minutes, and buff off with a clean cloth.

Usually, the conditioner would count as the dressing.

I like to use terry or microfiber for the cleaning product, but I put on latex (or nitrile) gloves and hand massage the leather for the conditioner application. I prefer this because towels absorb way too much of the conditioner during spreading.

Also, it lets you really feel the dry and rough spots and spend some time working it in.

I put leather conditioner on for the first time by hand last week. Its a lot easier, i think, and reduces product being wasted. I then wipe excess with a microfiber towel.

I second application by hand with nitrile or latex gloves. The reason for using gloves is that the product will soak into your skin. Depending on the product, water could bead off your hands for a couple days. I also use gloves when applying Collinite wax to the exterior of my car (using Megs application pads) for the same reason.

Considering real leather is techncially skin of an animial, I find it odd to apply a skin cleaning/conditioning product to some skin with your own skin. o_O

I have always applied it using a microfiber.

I like to do some by hand and work it in with the microfiber.

My wife found the Meguiar's leather cleaner and conditioner a few months back and saw that it was good for furniture too. So she wanted me to clean the couch and love seat with it. I started out using a microfiber towl, but it was taking way too long. So, I put a Meguiar's foam finishing pad on the G100 and made quick work of the couches.

The look from my wife was pricless!

No it is not good to do it with hands. You should use some cotton cloths for that.

I always apply with my hands. Never had a problem. Feel I use less product and cover the areas better. Makes my hands soft too!
