I've never had a problem getting salt out of carpet. APC or Folex and a stiff brush should work fine for you. The one thing I tend to do is use more water with salty carpets than normal ones. Seems like the salt gets crystallized and grabs onto the fibers, the water helps to dissolve it so you can extract it.

Thats what I do too. I have an upholstery cleaner at home, so pour hot water in there with some shampoo and clean my carpets like that.
Me and a buddy had to take out 6 years worth of salt stains from a client's '03 Hyundai Elantra GT's driver's side footwell. We ended up making a 2:1 (pretty hot water:vinegar) mixture. Water was straight from the kettle.
At any rate, we basically put it on the carpeted areas and pretty well saturated it with the solution (as mentioned in posts above mine, saturate it pretty well). Let it sit for a few min. Then took a stiff-bristled brush and brushed the **** out of it. We also used some APC+ and another stiff-bristled brush. Then used a terry cloth and tried to absorb as much as we could, then went over it w/the wet/dry shop vac. Took maybe 15 min total and it looks pretty damn good
Ended up coming pretty well out (98%). No more salt stains and no more 'crusty' carpet.
