  • Leather Sponge.

Can anyone recommend a good sponge to clean my leather with it? I've been using Zaino's Z-9, and they recommend working the cleaner into a lather with a sponge, but I'm not sure what kind of sponge I'd want to use?

Also, do I wet the sponge, wring it out, and then scrubs the leather cleaner?

    Thanks much!

    Re: Leather Sponge.

I do not like to use sponges, I think they hold on to the dirt in their pores a lot better.
Which would increase the chance of instilling swirls and scratches.
I use either Meguiars Microfiber Wash Mitt or Lambswool Wash Mitt with Grit Guards

      Re: Leather Sponge.

Hes not talking about washing his car. When I clean my leather, the cleaner is usually applied with an mf and wiped off with another than I usually apply the conditioner with my hand and wipe dry later with an mf

Yeah, I tend to use a MF cloth.

Something of average quality, like the Vroom brand from Target.

I like using any brand of a micro fiber pad and working it in with that and then wiping off excess with a mf towel.

                    Re: Leather Sponge.

MFs to clean. Applicator pad (yellow) to apply conditioner. MFs to wipe off residue. Sometimes, for stubborn stains, I use a soft leather brush (ie: Swissvax Brush or any other soft bristled brush). Do a test spot first to see how the leather reacts to both the cleaner and the appratus.

I went out and bought a car wash sponge and I'm going to cut it into smaller pieces and try that.

I like to use Meg's applicator pads, but I also really like these too.
