  • Alcantara Interior

    Hello,
What is the best way to clean the alcantara in this Mercedes Benz ML350 interior??? Can I just use apc and the megs interior brush or is this too agressive?

Are those inserts in the faces of the bottom and backs of the seats some type of suede?

If so there's not much you can do outside of a lint brush or one of those Lint Rollers.

You certainly can't use APC without risking affecting the appearance of that type of material. Suede material is probably the most difficult material to try to clean, especially if it gets stained.

Vinyl, Cloth, Leather, anything is easier to maintain.

As for the leather or vinyl side sections you can use APC for these but you can't let it migrate into the suede section and you can't get overspray onto the suede sections.

Ugh... suede looks cool, feels cool, just horrible to have to ever work on.

Might be a good idea to contact Mercedes-Benz and get their "Official" recommendations as to how to work on that material or let them do it and that way if something goes wrong they can foot the bill to fix it.

If it is indeed Alcantara it is the same material used in the ford svt lightning seats very very easy to maintain and clean simply use apc on a damp towel and go at it, then use one with just water to rinse it. Try not to get it very wet and shop vac it when done. BUT IF ITS NOT ALCANTARA AND IS SUED DO NOT CLEAN IT THAT WAY. I will see if I can snag a pic of inside my truck for reference but it is put away for winter Cant wait to bring it out in the spring for some fun..... .....

The official Mercedes products are actually Meguiar's products. The owner's manual should have some recommended methods.

I don't think we currently still make their formulas, even if we do, we never made a product for suede or suede type materials.

Suede and suede type materials look cool and feel cool, but they simply don't lend themselves to being easy to work on, either cleaning stains or entire surfaces.

Something to think about anytime you buy a car or have a custom interior made for your car.

Since the above was your first post, welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Thank you also for posting the link to information on Alcantara, I checked out the link and here's the two specific pages on washing and removing stains.

                General washing instructions

                Stain Removal

The stain removal link does a good job of breaking down stains into either Water-soluble stains or Non Water-soluble stains and the remedies.

Still doesn't read like it's easy and you have to be careful so anyone reading this thread and trying to remove stains out of Alcantara use your own judgment when following the instructions from the above website or any website.
