  • Cheap Skate's carpet method.

So my new G110 came in the mail along with a new toy... a LGM!!

I've heard great things about the little green machine doing a solid job extracting (for only being 60 bucks for a heated version! Heat is about as hot as hot tap water)

While I didn't bust this out in the car just yet, I did clean our couch. I'm the oldest kid at 20, youngest is 1 (7 total kids), 2-4 cats (2 are gone now), black lab puppy (almost full size now), and a pregnant mama (twin boys within the next few weeks!!).

Needless to say our couch was FILTHY. I hated sitting on it and you can't lean back because it smells of... cats... I'll leave it at that. Basically-- It was bad. Trust me Don't get me wrong, we have a nice house and everything else. Even this couch is really nice, but its way behind on maintenance.

Out came the APC, G110 with carpet attachment at speed 6, and a LGM with pure water (it's brushes aren't good enough to scrub with negating the use of soap).

    Process
    1. Light spray down with LGM (heated water)
    2. Light spray down with APC (to much will make it soapy)
    3. 2 passes with G110 (one vertical, one horizontal)
    4. extraction with more hot water
    5. left to dry (hours long... LGM isn't as strong as I imagine HWEs to be)
My dad manned the LGM and managed to keep up with me on the buffer. Whole process took about 45 minutes including other junk and learning what we need to do. I guess we could do a couch in 25 minutes now.

It looks a million times better and smells great to boot. Its a nice suede couch, beige in color. I love it, but we let it get away from us...

Now it looks great! Can't wait to take it outside!

Great to hear that you saved the couch but the more you use it the better you can get with it.

You should have seen what I got out of a couple older coal trucks seats and one that had carpet but also did remove the carpet and sprayed down with purple power and scrubed, next used a pressure washer and then used the LGM on the greasy and tougher spots, came out pretty good.

Also you only gave $60 for it? The #1425 with pro heat, great deal!

I did the carpet in my truck that was in pretty bad shape the same way as I did the coal truck carpet and it came out real good also.

That looks like a arsenal that will tackle any stain.

I don't know if there is an official Meguiar's attachment, but if you were to do an internet search for "Porter Cable Carpet Attachment" or "Hook and Loop Carpet Attachment" you should be able to find one.

It's basically a small brush shaped such that it can fit on the PC's backing plate (disk shaped) and you can use the PC to scrub the carpet instead of doing it all by hand.

                  yeah they're great!!

I went and did my car interior last week. Just the seats. Light gray that looks pretty brown and muted. Now its nice and gray. Regrettably a few stains seemed to want to stay (can only tell if you look).

At least the cloth has color to it again!!

It was a real long process though, and I can't get a lot of hard to reach places. It really ***** to see these lines where one side is brown the other is gray, but at least I know it worked!

Removing the seats is a lesson for another day...
