  • 2008 CRV Interior ?'s

Hi guys, been off the board for some time now, been busy trying to sell my 5 year old car and now that I finally did I will be getting a new CRV on Monday.
I have some questions about the interior for you guys out there who know anything about this vehicle.
Is the dashboard of the 2008 CRV vinyl or some other kind of material? When I was taking a look at it in the showroom it just felt kind of different from other dashboards that I'm used to working on and I'm not sure what it is because of the way it felt ( wanted to apply some #40 as soon as I get it).
Is 3m Scothgard carpet & rug protector really worth it, does it really work? How long does it last? I plan to use it on the carpet, plan to get the Scotchgard Carpet & Rug protector.
And lastly I will be putting on Leatherette seat cover on the seats, what can I use to protect it? Should I use a leather protectant or vinyl protectant?

Sorry for the number of questions guys.

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Sydster,

My wife drives a 2007 CR-V and I'm not sure of the exact composition of the dash but I have always used the Quik Interior Detailer on wifey's car, with great success. I like it because to me it keeps the car in a perpetual "like new" condition, without the greasy, glossy, goopie look of armor all in days past.

I also own #40 but I've never used it yet, so I can't really comment but I'd certainly get some QID for that new baby of yours!

Leather/Leatherette... can't be of much help to you here. I've been using Lexol for my leather and I'm not pleased with the results. I have not tried any of the Meg's leather care products, so I can't comment.

I'm not a big fan of Scotch guard but that is just a personal opinion. I have two small kids constantly eating or drinking in the CR-V but I've never had a problem cleaning up whatever they get on the carpets or seats.

Thanks a lot 3Fitty! I hope the other guys can chime in and share their comments as well, I really want something I can apply to protect the interior specially the dash.

          Re: 2008 CRV Interior ?'s

Hi Syd, got myself a 2008 CRV myself last Jul, as for the dashboard I'm using Meg NXT Interior TechProtect product, which is a bit too shiny for me. And if you don't apply it evenly on the dashboards the un-even streaking is apparent.

And I used only a tiny bit on my MF before I applied it on the dashboard.

Some people recommend the classic Quik detailer interior instead (less shiny).

as for the leather seats, I used GC Rich Leather Aloe Cleaner, and Conditioner (2 step products). tried the 2-in-1 product (GC Leather Cleaner/Conditioner), not happy at all with the results to wipe off some horrendous color spots (from wet newspapers, dont ask me how they got there on the seats :-)

the 2 step products took care of the spots easily (espec.the cleaner).

          hope the info helps.
