  • How to use the Little Green Machine was: Need help with LGM

Hey guys, bought a LGM non heated model today. Tried it out but not real sure what the process is. Do I just use hot water, put in cleaner, use APC+ and **** it out?

What are your processes, and how do you use yours.

A lot of people use the LGM just for the rinse and (partially) dry portions of the cleaning cycle. Vacuum the carpets fully first. Add hot water to the LGM canister then spray your APC or QuikOut directly onto the carpet and agitate with a brush. Now use the LGM as a rinse and extract unit until you're satisfied with the amount of moisture you've pulled out of the carpets.

has anyone tried to use the machine with the little green formula or the little green pet stain/odor formula? if so, what was your procedure?

I tried using the cleaner that came with the LGM. I diluted it with water as instructed in the tank. It worked reasonably well, but I felt like I needed to go back over it with plain water to make sure all of the soapy residue was removed.

I've done some reading on carpet cleaning and the consensus seems to be it's better to pre-treat the carpet with cleaner, allowing the cleaner molecules to attach to the dirt for about 15 minutes, and then extracting with hot water. The cleaner is made up of molecules that are shaped like a dog bone - one end attaches to dirt and the other end to water, so when you rinse with water it's pulling all (or most) of the cleaner attached to dirt out of the carpet.

Thanks for the replys guys. I used the formula that came with the machine. It just felt like I was never getting all the soap out. So now I know how to do it. Pre treat, and rinse with hot water.
                Thanks again, everyone

Great read, especially since I inherited one of these but have yet to use it.

We're going to modify the title and place this in the "How To Articles" forum.

Great demonstration FHerrera. for the price of the LGM it works rather well. I use mine all the time and have thought about investingin a professional model. But at $600.00 starting and not too many interiors to do I just didn't think it was worth it. So yeah this is a great alternative to an expensive extractor.
