Sometimes it's better to keep a job simple... use some type of applicator pad or cloth and apply, work in, and then remove any excess by hand.

I just use a terry cloth towel and that's about it!

I love using Microfibers with leather products, the fibers wick away the dirt, oils and grime that builds up on leather an leaves a nice uniform finish.

I like using a foam applicator to work the product in. Then a terry to remove. So far, it has been a good combo for me.

We always used leather cleaner + soft brush + towel + compressed air

A very soft brush or terry cloth might be a bit more agressive for you... Or a stronger product.

Sounds like you are more or less curious on how to clean really dirty leathers. I remember someone doing a post about using steam to clean leather and it turned out REALLY well. Try doing a search on "The Power of steam"

If you want to clean dirty seats, you should be using something like a brush and some leather cleaner or APC.
