More powerful shop vac..

Thinking of updating my current ridged shop vac for a more powerful 5.0 HP .....
Narrow hose on this unit and higher HP will = better suction.....
Anyone own this ...?

Joe, it looks like a good unit. Light , but it should be powerful enough. My rigid is only 2.5 hp. Tell us what you think of it ,if you get it.

I know Shop Vac makes one that is roughly that size as well. I'm not sure of the price on the Ridgid one, the Shop Vac branded one is something like $70 or so at Lowes.

I've read good reviews about that one. I have the WD1450 and it's amazing. If you don't need a smaller one check out the WD1450. I can't say enough good about it.

I don't know what model mine is, but it is a Rigid and has a wall mount. It is perfect for detailing. It is a little too powerful and will **** the mats right off the floor.

I got this Rigid which has similiar canister size, hose size, and HP.

I am very happy with the size and suction. I clean my floor mats with APC and lots of hot water; this does a very good job of removing the water. It is a bit small so you will need to empty it more often, and mine has an expandable hose which is sometimes hard to work with.

Looks like a great little unit. Ive read about it on autopia and most everyone seems to love it. HD has them for $70.

I have alittle 5gallon-2HP shop-vac from walmart that fits my needs just fine. It came with some other attachments that are not in the pic and I also bought a paper filter for it. It was $30.

I currently have the WD0635 it's 2.5 hp, the hose doesn't flex it's a huge pain ....

High Amps, Hp, plays a significant role (Suction= LIFT) dirt won't stand a chance....

I've been looking at the WD1450 as well, no opportunities to buy it, maybe when I order some stuff that I need I'll order it

It's a big vacuum but I love it. I bought one the weekend I moved into my house. My buddy that helped me move works in construction so he has used more than his far share of wet/dry vacuums and he loved it. Now he has one too. I don't know why you would need any stronger suction. I can **** up anything that will fit down the hose. One word of warning is check the bin before dumping it. I've mistakenly sucked up a few tools.

Edit: Just wanted to mention that it is quite too. You can talk normal voice and hear fine.

I have a Sears Craftsman Home-N-Shop Vac that I've had for over 25 years. This vacuum has never lost it's power and I will be very sad if/when it dies. It sits in my garage and is ready whenever I need it. No parts are available for it except the filter. I'll never find another vacuum like it and if I do, it will be $500. They don't make them like this one anymore. I don't know what I'd buy if it stops working.

I have that exact Vac, and I love it. However, I use the 1 1/4" hose from my old Shop Vac. The hose from the Shop Vac is longer, more flexible, and I can use any of my 1 1/4" detailing nozzles.

How's the suction under load...? load is when you hear the motor make a higher pitch sound.
If the vac's suction remains the same, then you know it's well equipped....

Thanks for the info Scott. I'll try to find it locally first and then I'll see what I can do.

I haven't been looking locally so I know that's best for me to buy it here

Don't overlook one thing about shop vacs. They can be really noisy! I went to the shop vac website and found they offer a line of very quiet vacuums. My current shop vac is very powerful but too noisy for my old ears. Will replace with a smaller, less powerful but quieter one this spring.
