  • How-to keeping the interior plastic "as it is"??

I have a 6 weeks old car, and I don`t want the dash to look like a shiny whore when detailed.
What should I use to restore and keep the matte and new look of my interior??

Use Quick Interior detailer. It doesn't leave any gloss, just a nice fresh look like "just new". I always follow up with natural shine. That just gives a little shine not a high gloss and protects against UV rays and stuff that can fade your dash. Remember that Quick Interior detailer doesn't have any UV blockers in it. Oh ya you could always use a microfiner to tone down the shine a product.

Applying a product like Natural Shine, etc, letting it sit, then buff off excess to tone down any shine.

Even Nxt Tech Protectant doesnt look too glossy on my dash, but my dash is very textured. That can affect you as well.

Hopefully it will be reversable if it gets too glossy

I agree, Quik Interior Detailer is what you are looking for. It is a great product. I use it on the interior of my truck all the time and it keeps the interior looking new without the artificial shine.

I believe that is not accurate. If you do a search in this forum you will find a statement from Mike Pennington that it does indeed contain UV protection.

...BTW - It does leave UV screeners behind...that is what makes it so good

Does it mean that Quick Interior detailer can be sprayed directly on dirty/dusty areas and wipe off with a clean microfiber cloth??

Like most things, it is usualy better to spray on the cloth first, then wipe.

I spray QID all over the interior- leather, plastics, vinyl, radio knobs, the navigation in my parents' Mercedes. Its never given me a problem. Thats one of the reasons I like it so much, I just spray it everywhere without really thinking about overspray and where its going to land. That being said, I do take a bit of precaution around the electronics/radio area, I try not to spray it heavily so it doesn't give me any issues.

                  YMMV.

Meguiars #40 is an excellent product for this. It cleans, protects and leaves a natural tone.

QID isnt too bad.... It tends to be the dressing type products that can leave spots on your glass, etc. Then if you spray your glass cleaner right on the glass, and mist lands on your dressing, you might get spots there. And it goes back and forth.

#40 is my favorite. I also like Water Based Dressing from the Detailer Line diluted 1:1. Both applied by a foam applicator. No real need to go back and wipe excess product off after it soaks in. No matter what you use, you can always buff it with a MF.

I used #40 on the softer vinyls, like the dash board, etc., and the Quik Interior Detailer on the more plastic like surfaces. With #40, let it penetrate for 5-10 minutes -- while you wipe in on the rest of the areas to be treated-- and then wipe it off with a clean microfiber towel.

With the QD I use a separate MF towel and spray it on the towel, wipe on, and buff off with the dry side of the towel.

I agree with murr. You can always goback over it to tone down the shine. It will work.

                              Natural Shine works really well.

as Murr stated spray on your MF first and then wipe on the dash.

or just spray on the dash, wipe in product and then wipe off any excess.

i use it on my MINI and like you i don't want that shiny look. no thank you.
