  • Shop vac vs Home vac

In detailing, I notice some prerfer one over the other whats your take.
I use a ridgid 2.5 hp shop vac for open areas, then follow with a 1 gal 1 hp shop vac for tight crevices... can't complain, paper filtered vacs create more suction than foam...

When I do my cars, I use a Craftsman 6gal shop vac, works great, uses a paper filter. Sometimes I jerk the seats out and vacuum out the dropped french fries and other junk food. LOL.

Whatever works. My father in law used an old canister vacuum until it died.

all of our units are equipped with rigid 2 gallon vacs. which was a convert from shop vacs. rigid stands behind there vac's and they are more durable and stronger than a shop vac.

I have a Ridgid Pro WD1450, it's a 6 hp, 14 gallon. Wow, the thing is amazing. My buddy works in construction and uses all sorts of vacs, he used mine one day and had one of his own a week later. I was surprised how quite it is too. You can run it and don't have to yell to hear over it. Oh and be careful it ***** up tools too. I heard something big go up the hose and then couldn't find my screw driver.

Sometimes I wounder it it would be handy to have a small hand held vac with a rotating brush.

I use a Shop Vac because that's what my Dad has. It works great IMO. I can't remember what size it is, but it has good strong suction.

I use a Craftsman 6Hp 16 gallon unit. Works great for me since my ShopVac spun a bearing or something, makes a horrible screeching noise now. The Craftsman is nice and quite.

I have a 12 gal 5.0hp shop vac. It's much better than my kirby house vac, IMHO. I use it with the paper filter, does a great job!

I use a home vac of 1800 w.It's not that powerful, i need to lift out dirt before by a brush, especially sand.

I have a little 1x1 ShopVac. It has not let me down yet! I like using a home vacuum on floor mats. The rotating brush really helps clean them much better than suction alone.

Good point. I bought the attachment accessory kit for mine. It sizes down to 1/4" attachments, which are great for getting to the hard-to-reach areas.
