  • Smokey Smell

I had shoulder surgery yesterday so my mom's fiance has been nice enough to drive me around for the last 24 hours until I have clearance to drive. Me telling him it was okay to smoke in the back seat out the window has turned into him smoking in the drivers seat with the windows closed and now my ride smells like an ash tray. Luckily he is done with driving and riding in my car, and in reality probably only smoked about 10 cigarettes total, but the smell has got to go. Any good tips? Especially something easy that a guy who just underwent a subclavicular decompression and distal clavicle resection could do with only one good arm?

    Thanks!

    hey Foolishfocus,

I have the same problem as you(smoke odor in interior). When my father gave me his 1999 f-150 which he has smoked in since new and after he had totally cleaned the interior with a hot water extractor it still smells of his captain black pipe tobacco smoke. I bought from Auto detailing solutions a dakota non smoke odor elimator which seeks out tobacco smoke odors and elimates them . I have as of yet to try it because it was winter when I got the order from ads this is an aerosol spray can so you should be able to use it very easily one handed.

10 cigarettes shouldn't be to bad. Clean the carpets/vents and run an o-zone machine inside for a few hours. Things should be as good as new.

          onawrxhigh,

I was wondering if you have given any thought to changing the cabin air filters. Most people over look this and much of the smoke smell can be trapped in this filter. This filter is part of the AC and heating system so all the air that comes through the vents, first passes threw these filters. This should help rid the truck of the smell and also create better air quality in the cab when using the AC or Heater.
