  • Cleaning stains & Scotchgard aftermarket seats?

    Hi all,

I have some new (a month old) bright red Bride Ergo II seats and I have a few black stains on it. Not sure how it got there, probably dirty palms.

A.) How would I go about cleaning those stains? I'm concerned that I might "spread/dilute" the stain if I tried water/towel.
B.) Would Scotchgard help prevent further stains?

    Pictures of said seats.

    Thanks,

    Eric

Oh, I would read the manual but it's in Japanese... so.... hehe.

first do a test spot in a spot that you can really see and see if when it dries if it'll discolour the seats. if not. go crazy.

but i'd try either All Purpose Cleaner diluted at least 10:1 or Meguiars Stain Remover that they have.

spray it on it, scrub softly, spray on some hot water, scrub softly, then use an extractor to soak up the water.

APC seems to work pretty well, but like TrufflePig said, use 10:1. I have used Scotchguard on my trucks cloth seats and it has worked great. Although I have gotten some stains on the seats, they always come right out. I think that the Scotchguard keeps the stain from bonding with the fabric. Although you should also test for discoloration with that as well.

        Great, thanks.

All Purpose Cleaner... I'm assuming you are referring to Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner (the professional line thingie)?

Doh, I don't think I get the professional line stuff through our Meguiar's sponsorship. It's been awhile since I actually bought Meguiar's stuff, hehe.

Armorall Oxy Magic has worked well for me as well. Actually extremely well although, like I said earlier, it may be a byproduct of the Scotchgard doing it's job. OxyMagic should be on the shelf at any Autozone, Oreilly, or DAP store.
