  • Carpet cleaners you use...

    HI All,

what are the carpet cleaners you guys use. like for wet/dry and stain removal.

interested in seeing what you guys/girls use on interior carpets to remove stains, extract etc...

is it all in one like a Bissel or do you do stain removal by hand and extract with shop vac?

what is the best that you've found?

i've read about the Bissel Little Green.

any others with pics would be awesome.

I usually use APC diluted 10:1, scrub with a Meguiar's carpet brush, and rinse/extract with a Bissel Little Green Machine.

I purchased a 1999 Mazda Miata a couple of years ago and there was a red stain of unknown origin on the tan passenger floor mat. I tried a couple of over the counter carpet and upholstery cleaners (non Meguiar's) and they didn't make a dent. One attempt with APC and the LGM and it was gone. I was hooked.

What i do if i want to get a deep clean from my carpets is go to an ace hardware and rent a hot water extractor. It takes awhile, and the carpets stay wet for some time, but i have found that it gets them very clean.

When i am just doing it normally, i break out my shop vac and whatever product i want to use, (i dont know the name of it, just picked it up at autozone).

I use whatever strikes me. For a stain I use megs carpet cleaner. For overall carpet cleaning apc 10:1. A couple of times I have been known to use tuff stuff, like I said whatever I feel like that day.

Looks like that. Some models have heat and some have heat and the turbobrush.

              its electric obviously right?

where can i find that one in canada. i even check the bissel site and nothing.

what's the model number on it?

              thanks

I wasn't able to find that cleaner anywhere in Canada either. I ended up getting mine for my house about a year ago at Target on a trip to the States. I don't think you can get the heated one here, and the heat option is worth it. Otherwise you have to keep filling the tank with steaming hot water. I'd just get one on the other side of the border since it isn't that far for you, you'll save some money that way as well.

Is APC easy to find at PepBoys or Autozone in the States? I don't know if I'll be able to get it here, but after using some household carpet cleaners and my Little Green, I wasn't incredibly impressed. The Little Green is good for extracting, especially on a small scale, but I don't think the cleaner was that great. Hearing about the stain in the Miata makes me want to try APC.

Yes it is electric. Not sure where you can get one in Canada, try ebay. Or they have them at Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Kmart, Amazon, Petco, Kohls, and a few other places. Not sure what stores you have by you. The model numbers are 1400 for the Pro, 1425 for the ProHeat and 1425-1 for the ProHeat with Turbobrush. From what I have read the heat is great and the turbobrush is useless.

I found them on the Bissell website under... PRODUCTS > Deep Cleaners > Compact Deep Cleaners > LITTLE green(R) Compact, Multi-Purpose Cleaner

I agree with the previous poster that the heat is well worth it, I think the machine would be near useless without it, but the Turbobrush is not worth anything. If you can get the heat for cheaper without the turbobrush, go for that, you don't need it.

                          Hey Everyone,

If I am spot treating a stain I use apc at 10:1, scrub with a Meg's carpet brush and blot with terry towels. If I need to do a really stained carpet/entire interior I will use APC+ at 10:1 or 4:1 depending on severity of the stain, scrub with the Meg's carpet brush, then extract with my durrmaid hot water extractor.

Not to steal a thread, but I'm really interested in this durrmaid hot water extractor. I want to get something good and reliable that is going to hold up over a long time, many cars, and provide excellent results. is this a good quality machine. I see that it is available on ADS and was wondering if you (onawrxhigh) had any opinion on it or anyone else that has used this machine. Thanks
