  • Recommend a Leather cleaner / conditioner for me.

I've been using Meg's GC Rich Leather Spray on the leather (who knows if they really are) seats in my 2002 accord, but I just don't see results.

It doesn't really clean, and doesn't seem to soften or leave much in the way of protection. In short, I feel like I didn't even do anything when I'm done applying.

I'm looking for recommendations on other products to clean, soften, and protect. I don't care if it's two separate prducts, I just want results.

    Thanks.

    Here are some questions:

Has your leather been cared for in the past? Is the leather material hard? Is the leather starting to crack all the way through?

If you answered yes to the last two questions, then there is almost nothing you can do to save the leather. If the leather has not been cared for in the past, then it will probably lead to the last two conditions.

My seats were not taken care of real well. I got the the two step Meguiar's GC Rich Leather Cleaner and a seperate Conditioner bottle. The cleaner is a blue color while the conditioner is a white color. If you are fairly aggressive with the cleaner, then some of the hard stains will come out. I like to apply a large amount of conditioner on the seats then I will leave it on for a few hours. I then wipe off the excess and apply a normal coat of conditioner to the seats.

I'm sorry that the spray on product did not work for you, but I believe that those leather sprays and wipes are meant for quick details like before a car show. To get real results, you need to get the 2 step GC Leather Cleaner and Conditioner.

Re: Recommend a Leather cleaner / conditioner for me.

I did not own the car when it was new. I bought it when it was 3 years old. I'm sure the seats were never cared for or at least I'll assume that.

They aren't cracked or abused looking in any way. There are just a couple of small light stains that I'd like to get out and generally just soften and protect them.

I'll give the separate cleaner and conditioner a go.

      Thanks.

The two step aloe leather products PorscheGuy997 mentions are great. I started using them every month in a 2004 model vehicle and I swear there has been an improvement in the overall look and feel of the seats. Great stuff.

On an unrelated note: PorscheGuy997, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss as noted in your sig line. I lost my father just over a year ago and all I can tell you is hold the memories, look back and smile. Time helps. Not a lot, but it does.
