  • Love the Bissell LGM

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed using the Bissell LGM today for the first time. I got the heated model for Christmas and it works great. Today I actually only used it in the house to remove a few stains on the carpet, but tomorrow I'll be detailing a BMW so it will be used in a car for the first time.

I was skeptical on getting one at first, but to all of you who are stuck on whether or not to purchase it, I would definitely recommend it. I detail about one car per week for now so it is more than sufficient. I don't have $600 to shell out for a new extractor but this has plenty of juice for the work that I do.

I'll try and take some before and afters tomorrow...

I use on of these on my personal cars (I'm not a pro detailer so I can't justify the $$$ on a true extractor either) and love the thing. But I use it like this:

          1. fill the reservoir with clear, hot water
          2. spray the carpets & mats with APC diluted 10:1
          3. spray some of the hot water onto the carpets & mats
          4. scrub the affected areas with the Meguiar's All-Surface Interior Brush
          5. start sucking up the resulting gunk while spraying additional rinse water
          6. continue the sucking/rinsing process until the carpets/mats are just damp
          7. pour out the disgusting water sucked up by this great little machine

Yep, for the money it's a great tool.

              Re: Love the Bissell LGM

I use the same process pretty much... it's also nice to have the heated unit which helps keep the water at a relatively hot temperature. Don't fill it with cold water expecting it to heat up significantly, but the heater is great for maintaining a hot temperature.

APC diluted 4:1 works great, along with a scrub brush for loosening the dirt and treating any stains. Then make sure to add a little hot water before scrubbing. Finally, rinse using the trigger nozzle and see the dirty water get sucked up into the machine. Be sure to try and get out as much water as possible by making several passes even after you are done rinsing with the trigger. The key is to not use any kind of chemicals in the actual machine for rinsing, as this causes problems with nozzles clogging and other issues. Just spray the chemical on the upholstery and **** it up with the machine.

Overall, works great and I would definitely recommend it.

I use the LGM as well. The only draw back for me is the hose is not long enough. But for the price it's not bad & does perform pretty good.
