I've been reading over these forums a lot lately and I'm very surprised I've not seen one mention of Capture. Capture is one of the best carpet cleaners I have ever used. I had an 8 month old motor oil stain in my carpet and capture removed the stain completely. Surprisingly enough I found out about capture from a carpet installer, I asked him "What is this stuff here?" He told me "This is Capture, the best carpet cleaner I've found." Next time you've got a stain big or small give it a shot.

They also have a smaller container that comes with a brush to work it in. You don't have to scrub just move the carpet around to let it work it's way down.

Just did a little research on this product as I've never heard of it before. Turns out I've used a very similar product before on some pet stains in the house and it works quite well, if a bit of an involved process.

For those who don't know, there is a mist spray precleaner you spray down first, then you apply this powder to the carpet and vigorously brush it in. Let it set for a period of time and vacuum it up. The powder will attract and absorb the dirt/stain through an ionic attraction process.

You do need a seriously powerful vacuum to **** this sort of product out of the carpet, and the very fine powder can clog some vacuum filters. It actually works quite well though.

Just a side note: when I bought my '99 Miata there was a bright red stain in the tan floor mat on the passenger side. I tried a few different things to get it out and nothing worked. I did not have any of this dry powder type cleaner on hand at the time so I couldn't give it a shot. Many months after buying the car (and who knows how long that stain existed before I bought the car) I picked up some Meguiar's APC. Diluted 4:1 I hit this bright red spot, scrubbed it with a brush, rinsed with my Bissel LGCM and voila!, no more stain.

Would the APC have worked on your motor oil stain? I don't know, haven't tried it. But I think it's a good idea to have some heavy duty specialty products on hand for those extra tough jobs.

lol, I am, idk about anyone else here. But I've found certain products already that get the job done.

Meguiars products have Meguiars name. I confess that it sometimes affected my choice of products (I do not work for Meguiars, and I use some non-Meguiars products for car detailing.).





After I switched to non-Meguiars carpet cleaner, the sponge backing on my Mercedes factory carpet mat peeled off.

I have no scientific evidence whether any products are the cause.

However, I used Meguiars Heavy Duty Carpet and Interior Cleaner when I was even more novice at detailing, so it is more likely that I did some over application, put carpet mat with some areas not dried enough, etc. with Meguiars products.





Another concern is the seat belt. My vehicle manual warns against using chemical for seat belt cleaning as some chemical may degrade the tensional strength of the safety belts. The manual recommends luke warm mild soap water. Meguiars heavy duty carpet cleaner (and the Mercedes-Benz carpet cleaner which is also manufactured by Meguiars) is one of the rare produts that manifest on the bottle label that they are safe for seat belts while offering much more cleaning power than luke warm soap water.
I called two non-Meguiars care care manufacturers, but they seem not to have done any research on the use for safety belt cleaning.

I've used capture before and it worked fantastic.

Its what I initially used to get my carpets clean when I first had my car.
Haven't used it since, just maintained them.
