Quik Detailer Interior and Touch Screens

I recently installed an Eclipse AVN5435 Nav/DVD/CD/MP3 head unit in my truck... It features a touch screen to control a plethora of the options on the head unit.

My question -- is QDI a safe option on the touch screen portion of the unit? Has Meguiar's performed any testing along these line -- specifically with touch screen automotive devices?

I've used the Quick Interior Detailer on screens before and was not happy with the results. It seemed to fog the screen and was a little streaky. I MUCH prefer to use Plexus on clear plastics like screens and gauges.

I'm sure the QID won't hurt anything. However, if you really want to stick with Meguiar's I would think #18 Clear Plastic Detailer would be a better choice than QID.

I think the NXT Glass Cleaner is what you should be using. spray onto the duo fiber towel and wipe on your screen. don't spray onto screen.
There was a thread about that and if it should be used on laptop and PC screens.
I just used it the other week for my PC screen and screen filter, it came out fine. no problems. as I look around the house, I was thinking of doing the same for the TV.
I'm sure someone will offer a more definite answer to your question.

I have used QID on Honda, Lexus, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti and Mercedes screens with no issues at all. It only takes a little to clean them and it's good for the wood (real or "plood") in those cars too.

Hmm... thanks for the info guys. I'm a bit hesitant to go the Plexus route but, I do like the stuff... My hesitation there is the propellants used as it's an aerosol product...

Additionally, I'm a bit hesitant to go with NXT Glass Cleaner as I just don't feel that the plastic of the screen is anywhere near in alignment with a glass windshield or window. They're just too different... It's made for glass...

I have at least one client vehicle who also has a NAV and, thus far, the one time I've detailed her Lexus, I simply went with a very slightly damp MF towel. Obviously, it wasn't very dirty and even more so, I didn't want to buy a screen if I was to experiment and fail with a chemical.

I'll give a VERY light mist of QDI a try...

QID Spray and QID Wipes are both safe on all forms of A/V screens. We did lost of testing on both OEM, as well as aftermarket screens.

The only tip we would have...If you are using the spray, spray it directly onto the surfaces and wipe with a clean dry microfiber or cotton towel. If you are using the wipes, we recommend coming back with a microfiber or cotton towel and wiping off the A/V screens.

One more thing to add....

We would not recommend NXT Generation Glass Cleaner all the time as a A/V screen cleaner. It is designed for glass, and even though some have success with it, we would not want to receommend this as a blanket statement.

Always use products that are designed and tested for specific surfaces. This will always yield the best results

I use antistatic plastic lens eye glass cleaner and a microfiber rag
works a treat, also on LCD screens on laptops,monitors,tvs.
just make sure your rag is perfectly clean and turn often to avoid smudges
